For some reason, I feel like the one area of life where women are less likely than men to seek qualified, professional advice is legal issues. And it HAS to stop. I'm a lawyer, and I can't tell you how often I've seen women screwing themselves over on divorce proceedings either by not finding legal counsel swiftly, or by sharing legal counsel with an ex who told them they could do this 'amicably', or by straight-up not getting a lawyer at all because 'my ex said he'd give me X and we didn't need to go to court'.
I think there's something inherently 'aggrsssive' about a court of law that makes some women hesitant to get a lawyer. They want to be nice, do it amicably, they want to believe promises and do right by the kids. It gets them screwed over.
