This is exactly how I feel!

They always say they want a woman who doesn't know she's beautiful but is drop dead gorgeous and I'm like trust me if shes exceptionally beautiful to your standards then she already knows. This upsets them so much. Because they basically want someone who doesn't know their marketability to other men but also is way beyond attractive. They don't want to earn her and continue to earn her, which pretty much just means respecting her. Also they love to treat us with disgust and disdain for acknowledging our own beauty like we have these huge egos but they're the ones who egos get out of control justl by having us on their arm or thinking they're getting even close. It's projection. We actually struggle with shame for our beauty partly because of them... There's no ego like a man's.

I’m not pretty in any sense but still find things about my physical appearance that I enjoy and that makes men SO angry lmao

because the usual ‘you look like a man’ ‘fat/ugly/hideous’ doesn’t bother me any more. The only person who needs to like what they see in me is MYSELF. I don’t exist to make men happy.

Ever since I found FDS I read posts like this and think, “holy shit!! They just read my mind!” It feels so good to know you’re not the only one going thru such a long journey to UNFUCK such a self destructive way of thinking and the way you view yourself! When you were raised by a father that thinks he’s doing right by his daughter by shaming her for being self confident in “certain clothes” and being shamed for developing breasts and then being programmed to cover them up or you will be perceived as a slut... this mindset has followed me into my 20s btw. You feel so ashamed which inadvertently makes you self conscious and drastically lowers your self esteem to the point where (like me) you cling to some POS that makes you feel pretty (I was 17 and he was 23) and you think wow this is how you’re supposed to feel! And then you’re trapped in an abusive relationship for damn near 7 years. All of which started with a fucked concept created by my father! We need more fathers in this world to step up and teach their daughters that,regardless of their looks changing (going thru puberty etc), they are to be valued by boys/men and should never feel uncomfortable for being beautiful and shouldn’t have to cover up because you become “more desirable” to the opposite sex. As a child, self worth can be destroyed with the utter of a sentence from those you look up to the most, those who are meant to protect you.

What slowly killed me was how we get forced to have low confidence. Growing up with older brothers, I was for a time happy to be like a boy: brash, confident in my abilities or at least eager to test them, competitive. The kind of person who says "yeah I can make that jump" only to end up spectacularly falling on their face only to get up and do it again. But this wasn't okay for a girl. Guys don't like it when you're the smartest, fastest or when you tell the funniest joke. They start talking and giving you all sorts of complexes. A guy who puts his needs first is considered cool and funny. A girl who tries the same is viewed as bad. So you change and you start to consider the needs of everyone involved equally. And then they've morphed you into a woman afraid to be hurting feelings.

This is just a way of lowering our self-esteem to get us to accept men that aren't worth it. It's pretty funny - and also quite sad - to watch their reaction when you reply "I know" to their "You're beautiful/pretty/sexy".

The reality is that pretty much every women can get a new man by snapping their fingers. Even the majority of conventionally unattractive women still have more options and romantic interests than most average men. Any secure man accepts this as a reality of dating a woman. Fortunately, the numbers of women who know this are growing and growing. Less desirable men are literally scared of women in general getting confident because it means we won’t settle for them. They’d literally rather push us down than built themselves up... but they don’t see that as an issue🥴

I used to think this was just some BS that "conceited" women liked to claim, this idea that if someone says "you're pretty" and you said "I know" that it triggers them. Weeeelllll... I don't get THAT kind of compliment, what I get is I'm smart or cool or funny, and the couple of times I've ever sarcastically responded to new potential suitors saying "you're funny!" with "I know!" their reaction was an instant switch flip. No longer funny, now a stuck up bitch. "YOU DON'T GOTTA BE LIKE THAT" Be like what, aware of my sense of humor?
