They will try to get you to accept their white supremacist, misogynist, and homophobic rhetoric under the guise of either:

  • being "ironic" OR
  • saying they are redefining the meaning of these concepts and the slurs that accompany them.

Both with ZERO self-awareness.

Examples:

  1. Two gamer men I dated would use the word "f*ggot" while gaming, or when telling me about their gaming.
    I told them, "That is a disgusting and hateful word, and I never want to hear it in my presence."
    Their reasoning: "But we aren't using it in that way, babe, sometimes you can just, act like a f*ggot, you know?"
  2. The same two gamer men casually used the word "c*nt."
    Their reasoning: "Oh, it's because I watch too much British TV!"

We were all American, but even if we were British/Australian, they weren't using the word in the context Brits/Aussies would use it.

One referred to the old lady in the car next to us as a c*nt because she made a driving error.

Brits and Aussies, correct me if I'm wrong. But this sounds to me like good old fashioned misogyny, plain and simple.

I told them the same thing: "I don't ever want to hear that word in my presence."

But ladies, even if he doesn't say it around you, he still thinks it's okay to use that word.

Would you want this man to marry you? Take care of you when you are sick from your period or endometriosis, when you're pregnant, and when you're in labor?

Would you want him to raise your daughter?

I hope the answer is no. It certainly is for me!
