Feminism has ideological aspects that could be considered as enablers of misandry. Let's take Patriarchy Theory for ex. It asserts that entire Social Systems&Cultures have been set up in a way to deprive Women of Social power,wealth and freedom while unfairly giving it to Men.

Feminists deliberately tip toe around the question of HOW this system came into existence because answering it would lead you to misandry. Think about it, a socio-cultural/political system that actively hurts women is maintained by Men. How many Men? Feminists are vauge on that, but we can logically deduce that to maintain a culture, a majority of Men must be complicit. So there you go! A vast majority of Men have created a system to keep women down and they continue to maintain that system to this day, ergo Vast Majority of Men are EVIL or at best complicit with Evil.

Patriarchy Theory's logical conclusion is Misandry, the only feminists that don't end up with misandry are champions at cognitive dissonance. You logically cannot go around believing that Men are good when you also believe that majority of them are complicit in a System to oppress you.

Feminist refuse to police their own movement. They're so obsessed with the idea of women being oppressed that they refuse to see their own flaws so they find it incredibly difficult to accept the idea that there are just some evil women in the world.

Yes, There a lot of misandrist who are feminist because feminism doesn't do anything to remove those people from their movement.

Feminists and misandrists are not the same thing, but feminism does provide a nice cover for a person's misandry. So yeah, feminists can be misandrists, but feminism will never acknowledge that they give harbour to those people, and can even nurture/inspire misandry in its followers.

I think of it like the Catholic church: priests and sexual predators aren't the same thing, but the church does cover for priests who are sexual predators, and it can even be argued that it pushes its priests into a lifestyle that raises the chances of them becoming predators. But once undeniably outed as a predator, the church will denounce such a priest as "not a true Christian".

There are misandrists who are not feminists and there are feminists who are not misandrist. Unfortunately, there is also a sizable group who are both, not helped by such basic misandrist ideas in Feminism as the Patriarchy Myth.

But we have to recognize there are also feminists who are egalitarians, even if they are not usually the ones in positions of power and influence.

Not all misandrists are feminists, not all feminists are misandrists. Although once a feminist starts using feminist terminology certainly I could call that person a misandrist.

I think they ARE real feminists, and here's why: What makes anybody a feminist? To qualify, I'd say you need to believe the following three things:

That men and women are equal and should be treated as such.
That society treats women worse than men overall.
That you are a feminist.

If you only believe the first, then you're more likely to call yourself an egalitarian. If you only believe the first two, then you *could be* considered a feminist, but if you yourself don't think you are one, then you're probably not. So assuming you have to believe all three, do misandrists qualify?

If you believe that society treats women worse than men, equality can be achieved by encouraging society to treat women better OR encouraging society to treat men worse. People who say things like 'kill all men' are likely trying to incite violence against men because they believe society is more violent towards women. People who say things like 'men are trash' are likely trying to emotionally wound men because they believe society is more emotionally damaging to women. They're seeking equality by cutting men down rather than building women up, but they are still seeking equality, so yeah, I'd say they still count as feminists.

The next question, though, is whether you can be a feminist without being a misandrist. If you acknowledge that men are overwhelmingly the victims of workplace deaths, police shootings, violent crime, etc, and still believe that women are treated worse in society, then you must care more about women than men. I'm not saying that men are treated worse, I'm saying that both sexes suffer from many forms of discrimination, and if you can see all that but still think women have it worse, you're not being objective. I say just fix the problems and don't argue about whose problems are worse, but I've met people who get furious when you suggest that men have it just as bad as women, and yes, they were all the type who liked to say misandrist things.

They call themself feminist, they read, talk, hang, are cheered on by feminism. They get leader positions in feminist organizations, feminist are proud to have them on their side.

But for some reason they are not feminist.

This is the 'no true Scotsman' fallacy. Basically, when feminists are confronted with feminists doing bad things, they respond with 'no true feminist would do those things. They aren't true feminists'.

It means every time someone brings up an objection they can move the goalposts and claim those people are true feminists.

Feminism certianly makes room for them, plenty feminist rhetoric and theory is implicitly and explicitly misandrist.

But I don't think that's a good frame, there are realities arround men and women that aren't flattering respectively.

If there is to be progress on men's issues or remaining women's issues it means starting at a point of truth, base level reality... Even if it's not flattering or doesn't give you a good feeling as victim or sooth your ego arround what relationship to your gender identity of man or woman.

The problem with words like mysogynists, misandrist and the adverb cousins is they poison the well. Do bigots exist? Of course but too often words like the above are used avoid hard discussions. Were animals of course none of us are saints.

Some misandrists are feminist but not all feminists are misandrists.

Misandrists are just people that hate men for being men, they include other men who send men to die, ignore male suffering or are overall shitty to men because they’re “not women”.

Men can be misandrist too.
