How does one talk about revolution without advocating violence?

I have no idea how this is related to men's issues so I'm removing it.

Even if it were to include men it would be a real tightrope walk to keep things within the rules. So this is partially to alleviate work on the mod team

OK, so, I'm French, I despise my government to the highest degree, and given how it behaves, I think they're almost taunting us to try an renew with our old tradition when people tell us we "just have to eat cake".

That being established, I am rather conflicted, because I am not convinced that revolutions have a real chance to turn out well.

The French revolution devolved into "the terror", was under all kinds of pressure from the neighboring states, collapsed into an empire, and anyway, it only replaced one elite with another.

The US revolution turned out slightly better, but the pressure by other countries was much lower. And it still ended up in the hands of another elite.

In a world such as ours, with almost instant travel, and complete interconnectedness, I don't see how it would be possible for a state to go into a state of chaos like a revolution, and not have it be taken advantage of by every country that got an opportunity, and derailed by foreign powers that feel threatened.

I would be curious to hear about a single modern revolution that turned out great, or even just "as intended".

When a revolution happens, generally, it end up benefitting either an elite or the most aggressive people (or both). If France went into revolution, I wouldn't be too surprised to see it end up into a Muslim theocracy, just because there are enough Muslims in the country, enough money from Muslim royalty invested here and there, that would be happy to help guide the most hostile elements into taking power, and enough people rather apathetic to theocracies to not want to fight it too hard.

Of course, it could also end up as a much more tyrannical unbridled capitalist state, or as even more in pure control of the European (economic) union...

So, yeah, revolutions... I'll think it thrice before thinking it's the right thing to engage in.

By 'demonstrating peacefully', getting maligned, attacked, eventually murdered by the state apparatus or private contractors.

Then have any gains you achieved undermined to the point where they virtually disappear within a decade.

You do not need to advocate violence. You advocate revolution, i.e., expropriation of capital, democratic organisation of the means of production and all other social institutions. In response the state and their agents will likely launch violent and nonviolent reactions. You advocate and prepare defence against these reactions. This may include plans to neutralise armed forces and police forces, preferably by appealing to our common interests, but if necessary forcibly disarming and detaining as required. It is less important how the state views your advocacy, which as the persecution of Julian Assange demonstrates, does not even need to be illegal on their own terms. It is more important how the masses respond to your advocacy, and whether you can successfully free their minds of manufactured consent. In reality if the revolution is strong enough out of the gate the state may be too impotent to fight back.
