All men's rights advocates recognize the existence of misogyny. the day feminists recognize misandry we will be friends with them. until then they are our enemies. they think misandry is just "mean tweets" !

Stop pretending that the men's rights movement is just "feminism for men" !

They think men oppress women and men can't be oppressed, they think insulting men is not the same thing as insulting women.

But we don't women oppress men and women can't be oppressed, we don't think insulting women is not the same thing as insulting men.

We are pro gender equality, they are pro women's righgts.

Men's Rights groups don't win much with allying with feminists. It is a loss of time and energy that we could use to rzise awareness about male issues and create things for men.

I have feminist friends off of Reddit; due to my redpill browsing history (see 2014-6 in particular) I'm banned from all feminist subs except MensLib, which I appealed late last year.

Feminism is a powerful lobby and the tradcon antiSJW right wing (PragerU, Heritage Foundation, Moral Majority etc.) is or at least was also a powerful lobby. Both promise things for men, both demand sacrifice, both have used men towards their own ends. Do research (Susan Faludi's Backlash for tradcons and MRAs, girlwriteswhat for feminism) and you'll see how in over your head you are.

I just talked to 2 feminists on this sub&Mensrights and they both ended up refusing to even continue a logical discussion, they just started name calling when i provided statistics to back my points.

Based on the numerous attempts mentioned in this thread re: men speaking on feminist boards without concerning themselves if they are welcome, hopefully it’s ok that I in turn am here. I understand there are male separatist spaces and I am ok with not being there, but given the nature of this post, I take it this is not one.

I don’t know how there could be a meeting of the minds, right now.

When I make feminist points, it is generally not met with understanding by men. I watched a thread here with a woman who made salient points heavily downvoted and, invariably, it degraded into personal attacks (I do believe a mod removed them). It’s just 16 clicks of “continue this thread”, there is no change, and it’s not worth it. It just ends until someone has something more important to do IRL than emerging victoriously in an online pissing contest.

So while I’ve always been open to speaking with men, if you upend any stat (“male suicide rate” is an MRA fave, which of course hinges on the higher likelihood of using a highly effective method- gun- but it does not reflect the higher level of actual attempts, and those, successful or not, are more indicative of the higher level of despair), there’s heavy aggression (aggression is 9/10 the approach), the childlike “Post! History! Diiiiiiig!” (seriously I wish I could make a sound effect of children screaming this) in favor of supporting the actual argument, etc. Am I thankful for those who can speak with me reasonably? Of course! Are there too many men who cannot, and are more focused on demonizing (who 9/10 don’t even have a grasp on what we’re talking about, but speak with the confident authority of a man on all subjects nonetheless?) Yes.

To be impactful, I instead engage with men and women who want to understand more and aren’t coming from a position of defensiveness straight out the gate, and I serve underprivileged men and women in real life. The homeless, the vets, the ones who want to be done with machismo, those treated unfairly in court, etc. With the men, I don’t spend time with MRA rhetoric to make them feel good. I don’t need to. If they are willing to also help themselves, I assess where they are shortchanged in the real world, and do real world activism- including the tedium of legislative work- to help solve those problems that, honestly, more men could stand to be involved in (if their less visible presence in the notoriously low or no-paying nonprofit/volunteer world is any indication), in terms of helping other men who are less privileged than they are, rather than devoting time to arguing, and posting articles and memes.

Engaging in discussion with the worst of misogynistic men is a total waste of time for me. I am automatically the enemy. I leave that for other men to do. I do engage with the most misandrist of women, who can’t even acknowledge that good men exist. They are more likely to engage with me (although they may still reject me).

Normally the most troubled of women are terrible at self-advocacy (which, for every woman that makes a guy say “Ugh! Feminists!” there are probably 10 shrinking violets who can’t even ask a doctor for extra tests she wants). But I also engage with the cruelest of women, because violent rhetoric is unhelpful (fwiw I’ve met exactly one IRL). KAM is generally about killing a system, not actual people, but it still gets men’s hackles up, which I get, and I address that. I see where the women’s anger comes from, and try to direct it more positively to have some hope of male allies. Again, those women would listen to me, before a man.

So there are some ideas. Help people suffering under a bad system. Hopefully both men and women. And instead of trying to move the minds of the worst women, tackle the worst of men. I’m talking about men whose whole deal is to just insult and degrade women, who find no value in women beyond a dehumanizing “How does she look? What can her BODY do for ME?” The antifeminists board is a great place to start (although you’re in for it if you try to tell them anything, but again, those men will listen to other men before a woman).

tl;dr instead of trying for a summit with feminists, help those less privileged than you in the real world, and online, engage with the misguided on your own “side”

Edit: Just offering a perspective. If I don’t engage in debate here, it’s not a show of dominance (I’m ambivalent about “winning on Reddit”), it’s because I can only devote so much energy, and have to determine the avenues where energy is best directed. An insult-laden back-and-forth longer than a CVS receipt is probably not that avenue.
