This stupid blurb was written on the back of a new book we got in today at the bookstore I work at (I won't even mention it's title as I don't want it to have free exposure). The book was another book about how men need to do better and advocate more for women, etc. Basic the same kind of BS that was in the stupid 2019 Gillette ad. I'm so fed up with this male bashing and all of this BS about how men need to do better and such; why keep blaming and demonizing all men?

Last time I checked, things like gender have zippo to do with a person's bad bahavior but this book only re-enforces the thinking that's been enforced and ingrained in society that men are the problem and they're the only ones to blame and the only ones who need to change their ways. There's plenty of women who behave in an extremely toxic, inappropriate and harmful way to men, women and children alike, and yet we never see campaigns telling women they also need to do better. It also further exempts bad women from any sort of accountability, re-enforcing the false notion that women are incapable of wrongdoing and are never to blame and if women do something bad then somehow men are always to blame for it and are the ones who should own up. In my book both bad men and women alike need to be held equally accountable, and the toxic people of both genders need to equally do better. There's so many men and women alike who act and behave in a harmful manner, and such behavior has absolutely nothing to do with the gender and everything to do with the man or woman choosing to do wrong.

I know I have a tendency to rant about this sort of thing a lot, but I got so mad seeing this book and the BS that was written on the back. Seeing this sort of thing also brings back painful memories of the times female bullies in schools treated me terribly and never got reprimanded for their actions (no doubt due to girls in schools always given special treatment and protections), and also some bad memories of adult women who also harmed me. Such as my abusive third grade teacher. I guess these people don't need to be taught to do better, as long as they're not male?

Enough of the male-bashing and holding the entire male gender accountable for all wrong in the world, that's not the solution. Bad people of both genders need to be held accountable and both need to do better, and that's that. Blaming and vilifying all men is both wrong and counterproductive. This way of thinking was stupid and insulting in the 2019 Gillette ad and still is. Men and women both need to advocate for each other.

As usual, I'm really grateful this sub exists. I'm sure there's plenty here who share my thoughts on this.
