They don’t know the time and work involved in that part of the music industry. Most women won’t sit in a dark windowless studio till 4am working on the same song. Also until recording software becomes as simple to use as Tinder, Facebook and Instagram they are intimidated by it. All the knobs, buttons and cables would confuse the fuck out of them. They want it simple by just pushing record and boom album finished. Nothing is stopping women getting into the industry it’s once again blaming men for their lack of interest in it.

You see, the thing is, there’s no women doing it at entry level. None.

In my graduating class there were zero women.

In my masters class there were zero women.

I’ve never dealt with any women on the production side. Only girls who think they can sing because they look like every other thot clone or marketing women who have ideas about how to package the product. Ie, make them look like/sound like every other thot clone.

If you want to be a producer, you have to know how to write music. If you want to be a mixer, you have to learn how sound works. If you want to be a tracking engineer you have to know every microphone possible and how exactly to mic up every instrument possible, if you want to be a mastering engineer you need to basically be an acoustician and a musician, you also need to have impeccably trained ears and almost infinite patience. You absolutely need to be meticulous.

All of these things require years of dedication and the immediate financial returns are very low. It’s mostly a freelance/reputation/merit based industry. You “make bank” by doing whatever comes your way until you get a big break.

It’s not generally suited to women’s mentality at all.

Music producer checking in here. I'm borderline autistic and have an extremely analytical brain. This is what is required to calculate volume, density, compression ratios etc. 90% of musicians cannot produce for shit, thanks to emotion. Each band member wants their part the loudest. My job is to say no. I often stay up until the wee hours, re looping a sample or clipping shit. It is literally all numbers and logic, and the more you actually enjoy music from an artistic or emotional level, the shittier of a producer you are.

Edit: to clarify, it's not a job that lends itself to feminine traits.

Hah this will never happen! The producing and mixing is the REAL HARD WORK. I am a producer/songwriter working my way up the industry now and I have met TONS of women and 99 percent of them are looking for a guy to produce and record and mix their songs.. they don't want to do it AT ALL... Want to know why??? Because it takes a shit ton of work. Sitting their for 100 hours making sounds and crafting something that sounds fresh.. That's where all the real work is done! They just want to spend an hour singing in their vocal and have some sucker do all hours and hours of hard work while they go to the beach and have fun and take more pics for Chad!

We're heading into an era of everyone making their own music it's already too late. There's still going to be radio and top charts but as technology gets better and more and more people make tutorials on how to sound like this or that there's going to be less money given to the artist and more money given to the software engineers, computer companies, drum kit producers, sound kit producers etc. I can make an easy top chart trap beat in minutes because of YouTube tutorials and pirated software.
