Took a few important people out to a nice reataurant for steaks and drinks. Waitress comes to take our order. Im the youngest out of the four (im also the one paying). We all order drinks. The waitress decides to ID me. I give her my ID (which happens to be expired). She says she cant serve me alcohol because its expired. I dont argue or object (i dont want my guests to feel awkward) i just point out the fact that its me in the picture and that its my ID. "Sorry, i cant accept that" she says with an aire of superiority that only comes from working at a swanky steak house. I accept and order a coke. The bill comes. Its a little over $250. I drop exact change. EXACT CHANGE, right down to the penny. As we're getting ready to leave the manager and waitress show up to the table and ask if there was anything wrong with the service. "No, it was great, the steak was great." I say. Awkwardly, the manager brings up the fact that we didnt tip. I laugh it off and tell my guest that ill catch up. When theyre out of ear shot. I tell the manager that i payed for the meal. I tell him that i tried to order a drink and that i was rejected. "Im not going lose my job because you have an expired ID" she says. "Youre right, but you did lose your tip because your a stickler for bureaucracy" i say walking away. I was done humoring those idiots. Even if my ID is expired i should still get served, its clearly me in the picture and who the fuck is going to know? Give a woman any amount of power and i guarantee you it will go to her head (anyone else notice that?). If i had a waiter, he probably wouldnt have ID'd me but if he did i guarantee you that he would have been smart enough to ignore the exp. date.
