I build custom homes. Expensive custom homes. My primary contact usually ends to being the wife because the husband has to earn the bread to afford these types of homes. I will not provide a contract until I have spent a day or two with the husband and wife looking at various projects and seeing how they interact with each other and myself. I have charged as much as a $300,000 premium (15%) because I knew the wife would be rough to work with. Her husband was questioning my bid and I was strait up about it, told him his wife was going to require excess handholding during the process and she was going to have a lot of change orders.
