Just reading an interesting book 'The Coddling of the American Mind'. The author explains how the new generation lacked the experience of taking risks, of playing outside, of being free, all done in order to increase their safety (at the expense of their freedom).

As a result of that, they do not know how to respond / defend themselves when there is an actual potential threat. Which, in turn, makes them much more likely to resort to the authorities (parents when they're kids, the police when they're adults) to help them. This is of course a very slippery slope, because the authorities tend to focus only on what can be proved, instead of trying to understand the entire context.

The inability of a girl to tell a guy not to touch him, because she's been brainwashed that he's going to sliced her into pieces if she does, turns the interactions between genders into a complete circus. Instead of going to the police, she should learn to confront people who bother her. That's how you grow as a human being.
