Great post dude, anyone got more recent stats on the likelihood to be a victim of violent crime cause the most recent I can find is like 1987, thanks

This has all the sources listed on it with each stat.
Edit: it’s hella upsetting cuz I’ve known this for months and I myself have been screwed by the legal system even as a white male.

i hope that taught you that race literally means nothing and that you have been taken for a ride
[–]73Scamper 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Race does not mean nothing, simply less than gender in most cases. Seeing how massive sexism against men is in the real world does not make race nor sexism against women nonexistent and it's counterproductive to address them as such.
[–]SJimPickins 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
yeah... this isnt the black lives matter sub where we self punish ourself for the hate crime of being born with less melanin than black people.. Race isnt what this sub is about at all but about all men of all races and beliefs and equality for us all
[–]73Scamper -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Looking from the outside in I'm sure a lot of people would see this as a white men's sub from exclusive commenters like the one I replied to originally.

Weren’t men also just as likely to be raped than women? I’m pretty sure that I’ve come across studies proving it in this site.
[–]Guimanfredi 38 points39 points40 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
And for some reason, it's never called rape. Always just "sExuAL AssAuLt". I mean rape is a kind of sexual assault, but why won't they specify it? Just so women keep being seen as "the knight who fights the dragon" by mainstream media?
[–]FinallyReborn 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's not even phrased as Sexual Assault, it's usually "Forced to have Sex" or along those lines.
[–]AyAyAyBamba_462 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In many countries men by legal definition cannot be raped. That's why. Sure she can get you black out drunk, give you a viagra, tie you to a chair and the ride you like a meat dildo while cry and beg, but legally, she never raped you.
[–]mgtowolf 32 points33 points34 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, when you include the "made to penetrate" aka female on male rape feminist propagandists like to try and hide.
[–]Geeekus 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When I get home I’ll upload and link the chart. Men are sexually assaulted more than women. And it’s not just men on men sexual asssault which is one way women like to say it doesn’t matter we get sexually assaulted more, the VAST majority of it is women on men sexual assault.
This was a 2017 study by the CDC on sexual health or something like, but again when I get home I’ll edit this comment and upload the chart.

False. Rape victims are disproportionately women
[–][deleted] 27 points28 points29 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That is because male rape victims are not even given a fuck, which means there a no male rape cases, because of which the stats say male rape cases are less, but in reality they are a lot more that what we see.
[+]Koguin -7 points-6 points-5 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
That’s hardly a counterclaim to the hugely disproportionate rape victims, not to mention that your assertion does not have strong evidence. I’m sure there are several unreported rape cases in which men are the victims. However, it is an undeniable fact that rape affects women the most. That is true historically and in present-day. It is completely foolish to say that men are raped at the same rate as women.
[–]Funderwoodsxbox 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You’re not getting what they’re saying. Men just move the fuck on. That’s reality. Maybe were taught, maybe it’s inherent. We don’t know the stats because the expectation is no one gives a fuck. Women are taught to be delicate vulnerable little flowers that when damaged the community must bend to the broken and men are taught that we outta wake up the next day and pretend it didn’t happen.
The only real difference is that there very rarely violence involved when it’s a woman assaulting a man. There’s no doubt, the ugly incidents are truly horrific and it usually doesn’t occur to men unless it’s from another man. That’s worth noting for sure, but the point is the numbers are far closer than anyone wants to admit in terms of overall frequency.
[–]Koguin -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Saying that men are raped at the same rates as women is just pure conjecture. There’s no strong basis for that claim other than “men are ignored and women aren’t” which is hardly evidence at all. You’re just preaching without any sound evidence. You can’t just make up statistics based on faulty claims like that. Ironic that this is what feminists love to do
[–]Funderwoodsxbox 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I didn’t say it happens at exactly the same rate, I said we don’t have the stats because the culture dictates we just move on. Who is making up evidence? You admitted men don’t report incidents.

Did you even consider using it to defend something for yourself, without tearing down someone else’s fight?
The fact that your first instinct is to use it « against » shows nothing but your inferiority complex. Feminism should not live rent free in your head like that, be a man and fight for women and men alike !
Oh! One last thing, I’ve taken the liberty to pre-write your whataboutist deflection for you : « Tell that to feminists, they’re the ones... »
[–]Mister_Way 73 points74 points75 points 6 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
I get what you're saying, and I agree, but also I get what he's saying. Feminists show up to attack a man when he speaks up for men. He wants something to defend himself.

Do we all have to agree on the feminist boogeywoman figure? I wrote entire movies about the issues in op’s meme and never once was I attacked by this dreaded body of angry feminists...
Because I never did so by saying that the inevitable corollary on men’s right was « we must take down feminism / women ».
Sure, there are enough nut jobs everywhere to find wopen saying that men should die, bla-bla-bla. But shouldn’t we still be able to differentiate between nut jobs and a global idea?
If we can’t, we should also say that the men’s rights movement is dangerous and violent. Because we know those nut job men’s activists exist as well.
I’m just tired to realize that some people think that r/mensright and r/antifeminists should be the same thing.
[–]Funderwoodsxbox 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
You ever asked yourself why he might have immediately said that upon receiving that information? It’s almost as if he’s received that treatment all the time. It’s like grabbing a meme. You think “ah, that’ll be useful. Finally a solid retort”.
Maybe you don’t get around enough on the internet, but it is literally fucking crawling with angry, entitled, verified, asshole feminists.
[+]pontiflexrex -11 points-10 points-9 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Ah ah ah « maybe you don’t get around enough on the Internet ». I’ve worked for 6 years now on online harassment and hateful communities. I’ve written two documentaries and a full series on the subject. Why do you think I’m subscribed to all the subreddits labeled « anti-something »?
I was involved in this particular discussion été having hundreds of time probably. This is not a good nor new argument but at least it is something you have in common with the other side.
On the antifeminism subs: « feminists keep attacking us, so I need weapons against them »
On the antimasculism subs: « masculinists keep attacking us, so I need weapons against them »
When your only justification for being vengeful is playing the victim card and resorting to basic whataboutisms, you’re just being as childish as the angry body of feminists you fear so much.
I was merely suggesting that you could be better than them, fight for men’s right and not against the fabricated other side.
But I know that you’ve been convinced that they are mutually exclusive. You’ve been manipulated by people and companies profiting on this mirrored hatred, so what are you gonna do? Think for yourself and work on a third way? This is not the place for that! No sir!
[–]Funderwoodsxbox 14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What’s the problem with countering bullshit claims with facts? I’m confused why you’re so opposed to someone attempting to show people who have been disillusioned that there is more nuance to the topic than they previously thought. You’re admittedly never going to change the extreme examples of feminists, but most women I’ve met are rational logical people and I believe nothing about being online changes that.
Im on Twitter a lot and no one...and I mean no one counters feminism. It’s just accepted that men are trash and women are oppressed, and beautiful, and delicate, and vulnerable, and complex and men are...well men are just fodder that can get the fuck out of the way or pay the consequences.
[–]Amsnerr[🍰] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think the point they are trying to make is a lot of the time someone finds statistics about their own oppression, and use it to invalidate another groups oppression. That shouldnt be what we are here for. By all means, attempt to educate the radical feminist, but they shouldnt be your main concern. Your main concern should be fixing both sides inequalities, because if your just going to only worry about your own inequalities, or worse use your inequalities to try and invalidate someone else's inequality, your no better then the radicals.
We need people fighting for human equality, not just mens, women's, ect. We need to come togeather, not try and tear each other apart.
Use it as a discussion, not an attack. When you come out the gate swinging, the other person is not going to have an open mind to what you are trying to get across.
I'm not saying I've never got into arguments, but my first priority is finding a way to make sure the other person is not going to go on the defensive, the second they do any point I make is moot and will be followed up with a response to try and invalidate what I just said. And when that happens they are not hearing what I'm saying, they are hearing a reason to rebuke.

Isn't Men's Rights just as bad as Feminism?
[–]AyAyAyBamba_462 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Men's rights pushes primarily for equality. You know, thinks like having domestic abuse shelters for men or changing the legal definition of rape so that not only women can be raped.
Feminism's main pushes in recent times have been the institution of gender quotas that allow women to take jobs, scholarships, and positions in universities away from equally or more qualified men purely because they have a vagina to the point where now more women then men are attending college, in addition to primary education systems moving towards more female centric education programs which are also contributing to the rapidly dropping grades of boys in every subject across all grade levels.
[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Men's rights pushes primarily for equality
Weird, because in this thread, I don't see any of that. I see people saying things like "Can I have the source, because I want to use this against feminists."
Not too many people saying "where can I fund domestic abuse shelters for men?"
If you look at this thread as an example of what Men's Rights do "primarily", where is anyone talking about equality?
[–]AyAyAyBamba_462 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
By use this against feminists they mean to use as a counter claim when feminists claim that men have life so easy and play the woe is me the patriarchy card.
It's also used because many feminist actually do want equality, but are completely unaware that these issues exist for men since literally nothing but men's rights groups talk about them. The main issue is that misandry has commonly fallen under the lable of feminism, and true feminist are few and far between.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Cool, I'm glad they have a nice image to use as a counter claim.
What about the men suffering from domestic violence? Or the men being raped with no legal recourse?
Why is no one here focused on helping them, and instead focused on finding ways to "counter claim" the feminists?
It just doesn't seem like even a single person here is interested in helping men suffering with the problems listed in the image and a ton of people here are interested in winning arguments with feminists.
[–]AyAyAyBamba_462 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The issue lies in that there isn't much we can do. Men's rights groups are a small minority, while radical feminist groups hold a vocal majority. Anyone who speaks out against discrimination towards men is labeled an woman hater, incell, loser, etc. It doesn't help that there is a publication bias where many research papers that find evidence of the stuff talked about here are never published in the same way that women's rights papers are. Even if the papers are published, it's often in a light that frames the information gathered as not adequate enough for some reason never elaborated on. Hel even Google does it. When they decided to study the wage gape at Google to prove the age old story, they found that they were actually paying their male employees less than their female employees. Guess how much news that got. I mean, can you imagine the news headline if we held a protest. It would be something like: "Aggressive group of sexist men protest for 'men's rights'" or "Toxic masculinity mob tries to uphold patriarchal values".
The issue is nobody cares, and getting people who will actually listen is nearly impossible.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
TBH, it doesn't seem like there's anyone here who cares at all.
I don't see people brainstorming how to help men in need. I don't see people complaining that they wish these problems against men would end. I don't see people sharing stories about men they've lost from workplace fatalities, or violent crime.
I see people excited to win arguments with feminists. That's basically the #1 concern here.
The workplace fatalities are just another "counter claim" to use against feminists. Not actual people who could really use support. It's shameful.

you want actual argument fine, i live in india,so I will give you a brief intro to the situation here. 53.2% rape cases reported last year were false( national women's association), no action was taken against the women who accused. 17 year old boy was alleged to be a rapist by a girl on social media firing him to suicide, no action taken against the girl as well. My country has reserved seats for female students in co-ed colleges females also have girls colleges, despite the fact that no. of male student is significantly higher than female students. Females also get extra marks in some entrance exams just because they are female. There were several other point i could have talked about but I am just too lazy to mention them.

[–]kakaroxx 14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What makes an attribute inherently toxic? Also, I've heard that word thrown around a lot but no one mentions which attributes of masculinity are toxic and why.
[–]Duranel 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The current theory is that toxic masculinity is things like assuming you're right because you're male, assuming technical knowledge (see "mansplaining"), a tendency to butt in, wanting to solve problems rather than listen. I'm sure there's others.
Most of that is either A: gender neutral (both genders assume they're right because of their gender and thinking you know something that you don't is a common character flaw) or B: not really a problem, but it makes people uncomfortable. (Having a punishing drive to succeed which makes others feel bad by comparison.)
I would propose actual toxic masculinity (note, I've seen these attributes discussed before, including non MRA places, so there is some ground being made) would be things such as: the tendency to "suck it up" rather than reach out for help. Being unwilling to see a doctor. (Part of why we have a shorter average lifespan). Assumption that the male did the wrong when a male/female altercation takes place. (This is unironically a problem with patriarchal societies, in that the assumption of blame goes to the party that is assumed to have the agency. Part of the issue we have as men is reworking that assumption in our own mind that men can be victims as well.)
[–]kakaroxx 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ahh, I see. I agree with the proposed definition for sure. But in general, people seem to refer to the initial definition that you gave don't they? I'd argue that the inherent competitiveness in men would never change because atleast at the moment, men are only valued based on what they provide. Also, I don't see why women bring up toxic masculinity when all of the points you mentioned seem to either not concern them or benefit them. I understand that sucking it up has direct effects on their significant others, but then why does no one bring up the emotional method of taking part in arguments employed by women and wouldn't that constitute 'toxic femininity'?
[–]Duranel 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As of right now "toxic femininity " is not a mainstream term, and I would argue attempting to make it so would be counterproductive. Building males up rather than tearing females down should always be our primary goal.
As for benefiting women, a lot of what is considered toxic are behaviors and attitudes that benefit society as a whole, but not the male or the people around him. They can come across as abrasive and controlling (see heriarchal leadership vs web leadership) and often have the result that others feel worse or less valued. Given the general trend of society of protecting feelings and mental health (not all bad) this causes a lot of issues.

Males are more raped than women, but most people just laugh when anyone says that. It's so strange, I've never understood the humor in pressing the tip of a sharp knife against a boy's penis, harder and harder until it is punctured and part of it severed off as he struggles and screams, strapped to the torture device that we've actually gotten a nice pretty little name for, "circumstraint".

I've brought most of these up when I had an argument with an "feminist" online. Her excuses were like:
it's your problem that you go to war, which is caused by men,
if they die at work why is it my problem,
what's the suicide has to do with women,
isn't it men that say "children are a woman's job to care"?, then women should take children's custody,
if men are more prone to crimes, then dont do crimes,
if men don't get a college degree or finish school then it's their own problem,
and more bullshit like this.
She claimed that there's no sexism against men, and she asked me when did I see an advertisement or a job placement that was sexist against men? Because for her that's what sexism is lol.
And all these in a country where males have to conscript since 1960 for 2 years. 4 years ago the service has been reduced to 14 months, and now women can VOLUNTEER to join as professional soldiers along with the normal conscript soldiers. You know what her excuse was? It was "us" that caused this, by us she meant men. Because back in the 60s it was men that decided that women are not fit for an army, so we modern men are asking for it. Imagine thinking like this.
[–]ZimbaZumba 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would call those responses uncaring and sexist, not the attitudes of someone concerned with social justice.
[–]Cantersoft 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Also, in the U.S., we can draft all the men into war to get rid of them at any time, but not the women, they're too special. We destroy male genitalia at infancy, but female genitals are protected. And a female human who dislikes a male human can get him an illegitimate criminal sentence in almost all cases.
Also, there is a space missing between "of" and "alimony" in this infographic. Very true though.

The paternity fraud stat probably isn't true. It's definately not "at least" 10%. IIRC a better estimate is about 3% (which is still ridiculously high).

Similar to the bullet point about how court gender bias is 6 times as big as court racial bias, police killings have a gender disparity 10 times as big as the racial disparity, yet we have nationwide protests against the racial disparity, and not a peep about the gender disparity.
And people never have a good response to this. Most of the time I point it out outside of this subreddit, I just get downvoted, with maybe a response or two calling me racist. Every so often, someone attempts to respond, but it just ends up being goalpost shifting. The other day, I had someone claim that it's not all about deaths, but about the general mistreatment of black people by the police. How terribly convenient. People are protesting that black LIVES matter, and everyone is discussing the racial disparity of deaths to the police. But as soon as I point out that the gender disparity is 10 times as big, suddenly it's not about deaths, just "mistreatment". Something which is conveniently impossible (at least much harder) to prove or disprove by looking at statistics.
People do not like inconvenient facts. And right now, people are operating on pure emotion, and their desire to show everyone how against racism they are. But when you come in and provide statistical facts which go against their narrative, they get upset in a real hurry.

there are no shelters for men for one.
I’m sure the paternal fraud numbers are way higher than 10 percent. I wish that accurate dna tests were easily available for purchase. With that, how many men just won’t use the tests for fear of finding out the answer, and still get screwed by the family court system. Because he signed the birth certificate?

I clicked through some of the hyperlinks in this post and I just want to say, if you really care about the cause of men’s rights, you need to cite proper research and legitimate websites (.org is always better than .com) because otherwise you can easily end up in a filter bubble of convenient information reinforcing your sense of victimhood. Out of 8 or so links I clicked before making this comment, 3 were 404 errors, 2 were from A Voice For Men, and only one was from a proper study.
Repeating the same information over and over again wont make it any more or less true.

Stuff like this just fans the flames of men vs women which is not really good for anyone. You could probably make a similar list with little-known facts about equalities that negatively affect women more than men.
Especially as this is just a list with no sources or references of any kind.

The point is that woman have more rights in certain areas and man in other areas, so feminism is useless.

Next tine someone comes for you here the stats are to back you up my guy
[–]Mode1961 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That brings up a good point. In the West can you name a single right that men have that women don't. I can only think of ONE and even that is not true in all areas of the west.
[–]morerokk 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Even then I can think of a right that women have and men don't, which is the right to vote.
Women get the right to vote, men must first exchange their freedom by enlisting for selective service.
[–]Mode1961 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That is correct for the US, though not for everywhere, regardless it is a good example nonetheless.
Depending on where you live, there are several that women have that men don't. Some are rights that are directly in the law and others are in how the law is interpreted.
I will give you one where I live. If a woman kills her infant, she can be charged with infanticide which carries as its' maximum (yes maximum) penalty 5 years in prison. A man who kills his infant has no such right, he must be charged with murder.

Everyone is discriminated at school, mate. Hence why I found it funny.
Why would I look in the comments when a source is 100% of the time either a watermark or cited on either side of a picture like this. Have you sent your teacher work and then separately sent him your sources? Yikes man, come on.
Cheers for the link by the way.
[–]Takemedownbitch 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
If everyone is discriminated against at school, then there automatically is no discrimination because everyone is treated the same, which makes your point completely nonsensical.

The link actually shows studies that boys are punished, and expelled from school for normal behaviour... and that girls are not punished for exact same behaviour. It also shows that it is in particualr female teachers doing this.
And yes grading and also discipline are two important things in school... probably the most important.
It also discusses scholarship sexism etc
