because they're horrible jobs, women
should NOT be working those kind of jobs. We deserve
better jobs and higher pay... the men can settle for the
scraps for all I care.

I actually had an American retired soldier agree with that statement. If it matters at all he was a POG.

USMC Captain here, and I pride myself on being professional. But if I were in the presence of that guy when he agreed with that statement I woukd have throat punched him and spat in his face. A disgrace to ANY uniform.

I call bullshit on Reddit's "no doxxing" policy.
This woman wrote this on a public forum, giving us her name. Why should I not be allowed to now write my opinion on this to her?
I don't want to know her social security number, I just want to be able to reply to that comment that she wrote openly on facebook.

Not only this - but the most important statistic, workplace deaths and injuries are majority men. Men are far more likely to die or be injured in the workplace. I don't advocate for women to do dangerous work, but I advocate for an end to quotas in the workplace. The best candidate, regardless of gender, should get the job. I mean, we have laws in place to ensure that everyone gets a fair go.
[–]unoriginalsin 22 points23 points24 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, more women should be doing the dangerous jobs. They're statistically less likely to die, so we'll have a safer workspace, and they'll make more money!

To put it in a civil fashion, their definition and understanding of the term, "equality", is vastly different from ours.

I just drove by some pretty obvious road kill on a busy street, and after reporting it in I was reminded of this same kind of idea we see in society today. Surprise surprise it was a younger lady who answered the phone, and I can bet you a dollar it was a guy picking it up.
I think this is what Karen means when she said something like old school feminism was in bed with the patriarchy. They really go hand-in-hand. Feminists define what masculinity and patriarchy is: Everything negative that is and can happen to a woman. Then take every action they can to better their own circumstances. I think the bullshit you hear about girls in their 20s being OK with paying for the dinner or whatever is just a cherry on the shit sundae along with door-holding.
They take actions against this petty bullshit because they're already fucking treated like royalty by everyone around them. Her highness just wants you to treat her a little less royal.
[–]planned_serendipity1 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It always cracks me up. I once in a while hear a 20 something girl bragging about how she initiates dates with guys and/or pays for dates. Invariably, after some questioning, it turns out that yes she did those things but it was after he had already done it at least once. She was doing a little quid pro quo.
Now don't get me wrong, that is a step in the right direction, it is better than it used to be. But no honey, don't try to equate it to what guys have to do. Guys always have to put their ego on the line to approach girls for the first time and they have to pay for multiple first dates with no guarantee of a second date.
[–]GreasedLightning 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Right? I'm half-tempted to go MGTOW just cause it's so fucking nerve-racking approaching women more attractive than me (That and once you get with them it feels overrated with all the expectations I fail to meet). Getting men for women is like trying to get spam email or turning on a fucking faucet. It just kinda fuckin' happens for them.
I think I remember seeing one of those "prank" videos but it was on a less popular channel, and you know they were doing it really cause for just a split second the chick just looked deeply hurt. THAT'S how it feels. When you get that empty, painful look in your eyes and you just have to fuck off and walk away cause you're a loser if you say anything on your mind.
[–]mwobuddy 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Getting men for women is like trying to get spam email or turning on a fucking faucet.
And if you hit on someone who isn't attracted to you, you're a 'creep' and proof of 'sexual harassment by random men'.
[–]GreasedLightning 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, only in Canada. /s
More seriously though, I know I sound like I'm her biggest fan or something, but she really hits these things well. Karen has a video interview with this guy Tom Goldich and some of the points that were brought up were how men usually get women who are on par in attractiveness or lower, while women always want to marry up. I think it just confirms what we already know: Women are just going for the low-hanging fruit on these occasions.

Maybe the same argument that always seems to apply to women complaining about the wage gap applies here; they should go into STEM to make good money
[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women are not being encouraged to take STEM fields! I and all my friends know this because we all took women's studies instead of STEM to prove it!

Oh no, but didn't you hear, men were forced to take those jobs!
This place is a joke. It's like if two people are in a room, one person has their arm cut off and the guy with a paper cut keeps screaming at the paramedics "WHY ARENT YOU HELPING ME TOO?! IS IT BECAUSE IM A MAN?!"
EDIT: Bring it neckbeards, for ten seconds instead of blaming women for all your problems feel free to downvote me. Then go back to theredpill and complain that no one wants to be with you, and that that is everyone else's fault.
[–]BroaxXx 6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Sure... Incomparably higher mortality rate is one hell of a paper cut, let me tell you...
[–]totallynotliamneeson 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yes but why is the mortality rate higher?
[–]BroaxXx 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Because higher education is more tailored to women and girls, resulting in a higher high school and college dropout rate for boys resulting in a less qualified workforce resulting in men having to accept more dangerous work resulting in higher work mortality rates.
[–]totallynotliamneeson 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
How is it more tailored to women? Have you been to a campus? It's 50/50 in most places, with certain schools leaning either way depending on programs and what not.
Hell, my dad, grandpa, both great uncle's as well as my brother and I have attended college. That's three generations, but it's tailored for women?
[–]Abiv23 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
did you want to engage in actual debate?
I'll listen to any points you want to make, this sort of needless aggression isn't going to help anyone
I'll even give you a jumping off point, you seem to claim that women 'have their arm cut off' and men are complaining about 'paper cuts'
Can you point to what issues/data informed the above opinion?
[–]totallynotliamneeson 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
There is no debate. Everyone has some shit to get through, yet historically and in the present, in many places women have it worse off. Just like minorities have it worse off in many instances.
I'm a man, I'm white. I can't tell you when I have ever faced racism or sexism to me because it rarely happens. Across the board, being a man is far from the worst thing that could happen to anyone.
Everyone has shit to deal with, some have it worse than others.
[–]Abiv23 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think you miss the point of mens rights, it is misused a bit here but it's to fight LEGAL inequities of men
Those being
Everything else is window dressing, but the above are the core reasons why a movement is necessary, no one will change these laws if there isn't a lobbyist movement
Feel free to challenge that any of the above is wrong, discourse is how you reach consensus and empathy
[–]totallynotliamneeson 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Oh I agree there are many, many things that effect men in a way that is wrong and preventable. But the issue is so many people who claim mensrights do so in a hostile way towards anyone else. It's discrediting this drive to fix issues so much, and it makes many people uncomfortable, enough to be suspicious of people advocating 'mens rights'.
Not that everyone on here is, but look at half the things you guys make fun of feminists for, they happen on here too.
[–]Abiv23 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
It's discrediting this drive to fix issues
I'd argue feminism has attacked these issues* in a much realer and more damaging way than internet trolls (who exist on both sides of well, everything)
You came in here trying to troll, you justified it by labeling us with your past experiences
I hope you can see how the above is a viscous cycle and your interaction with me I hope shows not all MRAs are mindless assholes
If you disagree and have some evidence you'd like me to review i'm all for it
look at half the things you guys make fun of feminists for, they happen on here too.
I urge you to look at the legal issues either movement is pushing for to get a sense of what either really stands for. You can redefine either to mean whatever you want based on a minority of members but it's the leadership actions that concern me and affect the population at large
/* so as to not sidetrack here's the evidence for feminism directly attacking mens issues from a fantastic (it made 'best of' reddit) post by a female MRA, scroll down to the post with gold and try to ignore the inflammatory beginning as the examples of feminist policy directly attacking MRAs and men in general is my main point
[–]Tiiimmmbooo 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Are you ok? Because I'm sure that all of those men took those jobs because they're good paying and steady work with benefits. No one is being forced when the incentive is good enough.
So why is this post whining about no one calling for equality in these jobs?
The post implies that someone should be, and I you aren't you are a selfish person only caring about women.

Women graduate at higher rates for most degrees except for the ones they complain about men dominating. They've all learned how to recognize a disparity between the genders but somehow they missed the part where you need to closely analyze all the variables before making a conclusion.
[–]totallynotliamneeson 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But their is often use of sex to determine what jobs or careers you work in.
For example, I worked at a Kmart in high school. At this Kmart, their were equal number of men and women. Men and women worked together on many jobs, except a couple. No men worked at the service desk or the clothing departments, even though many could. Now you needed to apply to the service desk, but for the clothing department that simply relied on applying to be a merchandiser or whatever we called it. From their, you were placed in a department. Only women were placed on clothing, even though we all met the same requirements.
[–]Achack 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
See that's where your missing the point. Your acting like you want something to change but any woman or man probably could have done any of the jobs if they had just asked. Nobody is out there assigning college students to the degrees they study, that's a choice. If more women start studying for a certain degree there will be more women studying for that degree. Explain to me what's denying their ability to do that.
There will ALWAYS be disparity in any society, the only thing we can hope for is that the laws that govern us are based on equality. And right now by law the genders are equal so the only laws people like you are looking for involve forcing people to do things that aren't in their best interest because you feel better about yourself when you feel like everything is equal.

Idk why you got downvoted when I got upvoted, maybe I should've marked with /s.
I agree with you, I initially had hope when I saw this subreddit that it would focus on things like child custody and false rape claims, but almost everything I've seen here, and every comment section is just complaining about let versions of problems women have too. It's saddening because the few things that are unfair towards men begin to look like jokes because they're surrounded by jokes.
I agree. I agree many issues effect men in a way that is unfair to men. However, the way this place acts as if both sides cannot have issues makes it a joke. Just because women have struggled doesn't mean we men can't too, why not fix both?

[–]mwobuddy 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
because sanitary conditions are important in retrieval of flammable material which is used for powering plants, right?

In Sudbury, Ontario, Canada there was a big push for women to be allowed to work in the mines.
It was basically the heart of our economy, and it protected Sudbury from the economic bubble burst for a good decade. I think, at least in terms of some grittier jobs, it's all about how it's framed locally.

All that being said, whenever women do work in the trades there's not even a question of equality. If you're doing the same work I do for the same time you get the same money, end of story. Of course, that's simple to do when talking hourly wages vs salary.
