I'm glad to see this post. Sadly, for every one who recognizes the problem, there are at least just as many calling the boy a "fag" or shaming him in some way for not being okay with it

And still, Katy Perry is still allowed to continue being on "American Idol", so there hasn't been any real consequences for her. Still, the fact that this is getting attention at all it's perhaps a sign of progress

The title of your post does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.

So please don't do it. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

In this case, simply mentioning Katy Perry in the title would have been enough for everyone to know what it was about.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

I think both incidents are lame, not a big deal. Barely sexual harassment although inappropriate.

That said, yes, the double standards are blatant. If the situation was reversed, the man would be fired on the spot, with feminists up in arms over it.

The problem is we are having a hard time as a society both pretending that women are equals AND pretending that reality is not real.

We all know that in reality it is true thst women are more sought after than men and thst most men would actually be ok with Katy kissing them without permission. We have failed to recognize the actual differences between the genders while seeking equality.

Women should be equals in rights, but that means many are willing to pretend women aren't actually ahead and favored, already supreme in certain fields like modeling, entertainment, porn, etc. They will ignore the areas women do well in and only focus on the areas men still best women in. BS.

The issue I have is with the double standard, either it is ok for both men and women to do this or it isnt. I lean on the side of allowing it with perhaps a low level of criticism as I don't want all physical engagement between the sexes to be stifled but I can accept it not being accepted as well.

I think we should be coming at this from the other angle. We can't chastise Katy Perry for what she did, everybody knows he's not going to be traumatised from this. The problem here is that men are berated because of nothing incidents, not that women aren't berated because of the same thing.

Kind of playing devil's advocate, but throughout history men have had a lot of power when it comes to sexuality. Then things took a more "chivalrous" turn. If you look at the early 20th century, men would do just about anything to earn the affection of a woman that they are attracted to. When a woman returned the affection, it was considered a "win" or whatever you want to call it. This has become the norm and so whenever a woman shows interest or affection, it is socially acceptable.

Now with "equality" as the SJW want to call it, something must be said about the unwanted advances that women make. Unfortunately, social norms have dictated this for decades and with the rise of feminism, lines now have to be drawn for females on what is acceptable and what is not; something most men have known for a while now. It's outrageous that women think they can get away with whatever they want when if the genders were reversed, they would be calling for Katy Perry's head. In my opinion, the universe requires balance in all things. If radical feminists are going to keep doing what they are doing, it is up to men to be united as a group to fight for our rights and keep balance in all things.

Yes, there are going to be outliers that give men a bad name, but we must persevere. We must be the bigger person, which does not mean being chivalrous and letting the other side have their way, but instead using logic. I'm hoping that eventually, more people will see and understand that radical feminism isn't real feminism. I'm all for equal rights for men and women, but not at the expense of either group.

I don't know much about that 2017 incident but I did read up and check on that American Idol stuff and honestly it's not that big of a deal. The guy said he was startled and didn't want it especially as he's from a conservative and wanted to have his first kiss be special even if most guys would have been all "heck yeah I kissed Katy Perry" but shrugged it off and held on ill will toward her and says it doesn't count anyway which isn't far off since it barely counted as a kiss.

This tumblr post is making a camel out of a fly really.
