This is just misandrist bullshit and should be dismissed as such.

[–]beleidigtewurst 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The question is, whether it is possible to do anything about it.

Also keep in mind that 70% of wiki editors are men.

[–]Angio343 58 points59 points60 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sure, go ahead and edit it. Then look how long it takes for the "minority" to remove your edits.

[–]beleidigtewurst 40 points41 points42 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men don't side with men (very weak in group bias, if at all) so it doesn't need minority to remove the edits.

But wiki has mechanisms to escalate.

[–]HoosDare 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Is it? I've seen some pretty hateful stuff in this subreddit. To the point I refuse to participate until the rage overwhelms my morality. It'd be better to acknowledge and try to solve the issue than deny it and hope nobody actually looks.

I judge feminism very harshly on their bad apples. They have a LOT of them. But so do we and neither one seems to really care to do anything about that.

[–]darkuen 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes it is. The men on here are talking about things like rape, false accusations, losing their kids unfairly in court, or regret over their parents mutilating their genitals as a baby and the medical problems they might face because of it. Or any of a whole myriad of subjects.

These things come with a degree of anger and just like subs like r/feminism or r/twoxchromosomes this sub is a safe space for its participants to vent about the issues that only they face.

This sub is only anti feminist in denying their claim that they represent men as well as women. Go to r/feminism and tell me honestly if you think they represent men, ffs they both regularly disparage men as a whole and get indignant about having to say “not all men”. But somehow only r/MensRights get regularly called out and judged unfairly for their worst posters, aren’t allowed to be angry about our issues and get called bullshit like incels.

[–]HoosDare -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

These things come with a degree of anger and just like subs like r/feminism or r/twochromosomes this sub is a safe space for its participants to vent about the issues that only they face.

Yes, there is a lot of justified pain and anger in this sub but that is not an excuse. There is a very clear line when someone crosses from disparaging a situation to disparaging a gender and this sub, as well as those you linked, regularly and intentionally cross it. Usually to applause.

This sub is only anti feminist in denying their claim that they represent men as well as women.

This sub is anti feminist for a lot of reasons and many of them far better ones than that. I'd say the rampant and widely accepted sexism is worse than the hypocrisy. A problem we share as well.

But somehow only r/MensRights get regularly called out for their worst posters, aren’t allowed to be angry about their issues and get called bullshit like incels.

That's what feminists do and you very nicely explained how morally corrupt they are. We should be better than that. Right now we aren't.

[–]darkuen 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree then, I think communities should only be judged by their worst members when they do nothing to disavow or disown them. I see those “raging” posters get called out here all the time, yet practically nothing in those other subs.

[–]nerdy-awesome-guy-2 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Can’t we just agree that everybody is terrible piece of shit?

[–]darkuen 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

What’s the r/MensRights equivalent of posts like this? https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/comments/vzh3y2/i_fucking_hate_men_so_much/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Was only made 10 min ago and didn’t take me long to find it.

[–]Shadowdragon409 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't say I've seen any bad apples. At least nothing that hasn't been downvoted or outright removed.

[–]SecondEldenLord 84 points85 points86 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Hate and extremism? Misoginy? That is why you don't listen ever to what wikipedia says. It is clearly the person who wrote this either never entered this subreddit or just closed their eyes to the positive nature of this subreddit and instead focuse don the bad apples.

[–]throwawayincelacc 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's been many examples in the past of wikipedia being pruned of anything that can be seen as anti-feminist facts, and locking those articles after.

[–]fear_the_future 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They're just quoting other sources. It is not the opinion of the author. The real problem is the lack of opposing viewpoints that are moderated away.

[–]SecondEldenLord 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wikipedia is pretty biased indeed, they are unable to have an open mind and see the opposite views.

[–]Mydogisphotogenic 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yet r/twoxchromosomes which, on a daily basis, promotes racist and sexist rhetoric is not listed.

[–]Rifter0876 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wikipedia has been sexist af for years bud, nothing new there. I used to actually donate and support them, up until about a decade ago when they decided they were going to get all woke but in reality woke turned out to just be sexist ah's.

[–]Mydogisphotogenic 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I donated to Wikipedia on a yearly basis, now I will no longer do so.

[–]zogins 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I donated too, but like you, won't donate again.

[–]DeadSkullMonkey 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How can you report whole subreddits?

[–]HoosDare 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reporting is pointless. Reddit admins official stance is that it is not possible for anyone with privilege (read: white, male) to be discriminated against.

[–]g1455ofwater 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Controversial is such a weasel word.

Lol they use SPLC to try and demonize men's rights but the SPLC is itself a hate group.

[–]mrbeets6000 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Genuine question, what is SPLC?

[–]bigdtbone 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Southern Poverty Law Center

[–]Corran_Halcyon 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

SPLC is a terrorist network. I am not saying, nor do I believe, that was their intention, but look at their declarations in condensation and endorsements over the past ten years alone. They have made themselves into a network of and for extremists.

I disregard any statements they release.

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They’ve definitely started out with good intentions, as a minority I appreciated their existence in the past. But yeah, they’ve turned quite extremist within the last several decades.

[–]mrbeets6000 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks

[–]No-Satisfaction-2320 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whe you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression (or in this case, hate speech)

[–]Ferbuggity 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The actual entry for MensRights on Wiki is badly in need of some non-feminist editing.

[–]DepressedDandylion 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My guess would be r/Anti-Feminism

[–]meperso[S] 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Flat_Individual 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wikipedia is evil.

[–]iainmf 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No surprise that the citations are conflating r/MensRights with the redpill subreddit.

[–]Chef_Sizzlipede 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

wikipedia, pearl of the misandry wars

[–]ABeeBox 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This sub isn't oppressive, it's defensive. This sub doesn't go out of its way to attack feminism but rather defend itself from the attacks of inequality and generalisations.

This wiki text clearly intentionally misrepresents this sub and does the typical misandrist activity of purposefully labeling anything to do with men's rights to the likes of radicalised inceldom.

[–]CallOfRedditNSFW 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Female dating strategies?

[–]NegativeOrchid 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Mens rights isn’t an antifeminist subreddit, it’s an anti-misandry subreddit

[–]Zephyr9865 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're the same thing.

[–]Shadowdragon409 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say that this sub is pretty openly anti feminist. The problem is that this sub and everybody else has two different definitions of Feminism.

[–]zogins 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am only a member of this sub because there is never any hate speech, violent speech, sexism, or distasteful posts. Posters and commenters also, avoid making sweeping generalisations, while the mods remove anything that incites hate or is clearly untrue.

Subs like 2X are clearly misandristic and incite hate. A cursory look at the first page showed me a post with this title: "behind closed doors men are 1000% worse than you could ever imagine."

[–]fkreddititsuxass 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Search for "misandry" on Wikipedia and tell me what it says about the authors of these articles

[–]Chef_Sizzlipede 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"The examples and perspective in this article deal primarily with Western culture and White people and do not represent a worldwide view of the subject."
wow.....

[–]Riptionator 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you want to pull your hair out even more, read the "talk" section/tab of the misandry article. There's a feminist defending that feminist "scholars" are a trustworthy source for discussions on misandry. It's terrible. You've been warned.

[–]HoosDare 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn...it starts off with some hard sexism and doesn't let up the whole way through. That's the most sexist thing I've read in a while.

[–]throwaway202108215 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Allowing anyone to come to this sub and argue with people here, which results in heated exchanges then used as examples of controversy, usually does that.

[–]MarsRisen 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It’s Wikipedia. It can be edited by enough people right? Let’s get together and change it lol.

[–]nerdy-awesome-guy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s sad that I find more honest people on certain subreddits than all of the internet or news itself.

[–]MarsRisen 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True

[–]mistralol 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Massive problems with that is that anyone can post anything so its not possible if posts are made by men or not. There is also a small minority of people at various political extreme that love to post bullshit and then later use it to frame a context so they can say "look at that group and how bad they are" but the evidence trail is shallow once you really look into it.

[–]xsplizzle -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope, thats really not how wikipedia works, if you add something in that the moderators dont agree with, it will be removed and you will be banned, its why biased and wrong information like the op posted is pretty rampant on wikipedia

[–]CawlinAlcarz 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The SPLC is a despicable organization and is best ignored.

[–]herefortheparty01 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A far left website called a sub dedicated to mens issues extreme. What else is new

[–]2HourCoffeeBreak 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s Wikipedia… I just consider the source and move on. I use it mainly for entertainment purposes only. Which is the disclaimer that should be at the top of every wiki page.

[–]randomjack420 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you not see the absolute, blinding hypocrisy of tut-tutting this sub without addressing the massive and endemic hatred of men elsewhere on reddit?

Don't pretend to me that this doesn't exist, or that it's somehow justified "because the patriarchy", or that it's "only extremists". Be real about it for a moment about it, then ask yourself why feminist subs are not listed as hate groups, when they regularly and literally call for shunning, violence, hatred and often death for men in general, and members celebrate the suffering of men like a bunch of sick psychopaths.

So.... why? Your thorough explanation, based in feminist ideals of "equality" are eagerly anticipated.

[–]Psycedilla 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i think 2 wrongs dont make a right. but agree its hypocritical that only one sides "badness" is taken into account.

[–]HoosDare -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Do you not see the absolute, blinding hypocrisy of tut-tutting this sub without addressing the massive and endemic hatred of men elsewhere on reddit?

No, I don't, and I'd love to hear your explanation.

Do you expect everyone to never say a word unless they also talk about every single issue in existence? Or is it just sexism that is held to this requirement?

Can someone never critique anything about either of the groups unless they immediately critique something about the other?

How is their lack of criticism of one group relevant at all to the point of the criticism of the other? Do you just ignore the point unless you can prove that person also criticizes the other group? Will you ignore any and all criticisms of your group until you feel that society fairly criticizes both?

While those are leading questions, and may be taken as hostile, I am curious what your thoughts are. I regularly critique the group I believe in. I want it to be the best that it can be. I don't critique the other group, what's the point? I'm not going to change anything there, I just get dismissed out of hand for my beliefs. This is how it was when I identified as a feminist and still holds true the closer I get to identifying as an MRA.

[–]Ferbuggity 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This sub doesn't censor posts as militantly as the feminist subs, allowing for criticism as well as the venting of frustrations, while idiots tend to get downvoted. But instead of actually criticising individual posts - or better yet, holding open discussion with them - you pipe up to support a post saying the sub itself is mostly "misogynist".

I just can't be bothered having to explain it to you.

[–]HoosDare -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Did you even read that? Are you capable of understanding it? Based on your response it seems to be no and hell no.

[–]Ferbuggity 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am curious what your thoughts are.

Lol.

[–]HoosDare 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On those questions.

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Ferbuggity 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Something I've had to learn here is that there must be space given to men's anger, and despair, and frustration. All of those things deserve expression. I admit it gets a bit thick and I will call out blatant hatred when I see it... but the posts you linked aren't the same festering sores of misanthropic hate you see in feminist subs,

If not here, where can men safely their express their darknesses?

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Ferbuggity 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It's not misogyny to speak out against feminism. It's not misogyny to express one's anger at a woman or a group of women who have caused you harm, or wish to. And the lack of extreme censorship here does not make the sub misogynist, even if a few members really are.

Again, I direct you the blatant hypocrisy of the feminist sites, why are you not over there giving them a serve of righteous indignation? When what they are writing is in severity and very much in volume a far greater expression of hate?

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Ferbuggity 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So go post under those comments rather than calling the sub "misogynist". Unlike the 'woke', we don't aim to be a hive mind. Call out the people who offend you not the sub that doesn't silence and censor the feelings of men, even those who don't represent its views.

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Ferbuggity 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And I'm explaining to you that you can call it "a bad reputation" when feminist subs get called "misandrist" on Wikipedia and are also considered widely to be of ill repute.

Look at your own lumpy rug mate.

[–]dragondude99 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Talking about feminism is not defending harrasment you're gonna need to strawman alot harder.

How many times have you called him, I bet uou miss him, his strong arms, his chiseld chin, you're notgonna getback toghether if you keep blaming others

[–]iainmf 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

What criticisms of women do you think are valid and not misogyny?

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]iainmf 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I'd say there are criticisms that are broadly true.

Men are not good at advocating for men.

Men need to have higher standards when it comes to women they choose to have relationships with.

Men are too willing to accept sexism against men.

Edit: if we can identify differences between men and women, then there will be things to criticise and things to praise in those differences.

[–]HoosDare 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Those are all societal/personal problems that aren't inherent to gender. There is no need to critique gender on any of that. Even so, none of that is anywhere near universal.

[–]iainmf 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How do you distinguish between genders? What makes men different from women?

[–]oafsalot 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When you have to refactor sexual assault to mean looking just at someone in a public place then yea, there is a serious problem with the rules you play by. And if feminism wants to change the rules, then so can we.

[–]Viesegel 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
