Isn't Gender a Social Construct?

One could argue every definition is a social construct in that society decided to associate certain words with certain attributes, but it’s sticking to these definitions that give words meaning. We classify species according to their DNA. If we accept a toddler pointing to an animal with feline DNA (a cat) and calling it a doggy, then the word dog ceases to be as meaningful which is why we correct the toddler. It’s the same with gender.

To argue weather gender is a social construct or not is really a distraction. We have definitions for all words including what makes someone a male or a female. Whether we call these definitions a social construct or not doesn’t change this. If we use words outside of their definitions, then the words become less meaningful. When people purposely use words outside their definition, one must wonder what their motivation for doing so is.

Feminism is getting more and more separated from lgbt+ activism the people screaming about abortions are usually terfs or people who don't actually care about trans people unless it makes them seem better. For as much as we pride ourselves on our thinking abilities, we really just have a layer of rational thought on top of a layer of learned social constructions, on top of a layer running programming from a caveman/cavewomen ROM (read only memory), on top of an animal brain.

genotype is a binary: XX or XY chromosomes

phenotype is a spectrum: hormone levels differ, including during the various stages of fetal development.

social stuff (aka gender): Even more complicated and nuanced.

Neither the "blank slate"/"social construct" nor the "there's only two genders" absolutists are doing the issue any reasonable justice.

Well, on average women have a uterus, and men do not. Men can have a uterus, but it's pretty safe to say any given man does not. It is discriminatory towards women for that reason. Discriminatory actions do not have to affect the whole of a group, they just have to disproportionately affect the said group. Why are you even arguing this point, do you want to be discriminated against or something? You want news articles to say abortion is discriminatory towards MEN too? (boo hoo) I'm sure you'd go apeshit if you found an article that said circumcision is discriminatory towards women.

We are not all gender fluid, I don't think you know what that means. A gender fluid person is someone who has experienced one or more changes in their gender throughout their life. So no, you (probably I don't know, just assuming from the way you talk) are not genderfluid.

Yeah I don’t want to sound transphobic but the whole gender is a social construct shit doesn’t really make sense.

I think trans people can change their gender, but only if they go through the surgery and hormone treatment. Being able to change your gender while still looking like the one you were born as is stupid and causes so much confusion.

It is, only if we consider sex and gender a different thing. Meaning sex is dictated by your body and gender by your head, what you feel like you are.

Problem is, until recently gender was dictated by your sex and having a different gender from your sex was considered a mental illness by everyone. This changed with the push from progressives to make it something normal and aceptable. They've made it a political thing, not only pushing for more acceptance and normalization but going as far as grooming young children into considering themselves trans when they may nit be.

In the end, your opinion on the matter is pretty much defined by your political aligning and any discussion on the matter has lost any biological sense in favor of political activism from both sides.

If you ask for my opinion, I do consider them a different thing, but I think everyone should strife to have a matching sex and gender. Meaning, if you consider yourself a man but have a female body you should make whatever you can to make your body as male as possible.

Any claim that it's ok to have a non-matching sex and gender and pushing trans people to have sex-changing operation is not ok it's retarded and ends in in more mental health problems and suicides.
