A woman takes off a man's clothing without his permission. Blame the patriarchy. I'm so sick of that fucking word.

[–]corndog161 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well guess who's to blame?

[–]Imnotmrabut 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The Guy of course! If he hadn't been to the gym and developed that ripped body with added musky aroma that Cougars lust after, he wouldn't be groped, manhandled and Cougar raped in public.

It's men's fault for not showering more frequently.

[–]corndog161 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I meant who's to blame of him being sick of that word.

I was gonna say probably the patriarchy.

[–]theJigmeister 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Would you say the word is....problematic?

[–]RobDog101 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What the fuck is wrong with so-called "objectification"? It's not even a correctly used term. These aren't examples of treating people in ways that it is only acceptable to treat inanimate objects. The people saying this are just ugly haters. And you don't have to be a fucking Adonis or Aphrodite not to be a hater. All the gay guys I know who are not themselves in supermodel shape still love the "objectification" of hot guys. If anything the "objects" of objectification tend to be a bit too highly valued as people based on something shallow, and the people whose looks don't give them an advantage are just being petty in complaining incessantly about this—which actually makes them less attractive even to look at. Negative people are ugly, and become unpleasant even to see. You can literally see it in their faces, how they carry themselves, etc.

[–]MRA-automatron-2kb 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The irony is that exercise improves posture and good posture is attractive.

[–]RobDog101 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is true, but I don't really see how it's "ironic" lol

[+]98089098890 -6 points-5 points-4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

What a terrible post full of generalizations.

Yes, ugly people are treated worse and are negative because of it. You're blaming people for being offended for being treated worse. You're like a caricature of 1950s morality.

All the gay guys I know who are not themselves in supermodel shape still love the "objectification" of hot guys.

"All the black people I know are fine with segregation and being called a "negro," what's the problem?"

You don't even see why you're shitty human being. No, it's not great to treat bodies like the pinnacle of human achievement. No, YOU don't get to choose how people feel, and you don't get to be the arbiter of what is allowed, acceptable, and correct. Yes, let's lionize beautiful people and make ugly people feel terrible for being alive. WHAT A GREAT ARGUMENT. Let's all get our rulers out and measure your penis size, rob. Then we can tell you whether you are a worthwhile human or not.

This subreddit is a joke and the new people on here are cancer.

[–]RobDog101 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So you're calling us gays problematic now, eh, shitlord? Because yes, we literally all like to look at men we find attractive. If we see a photo of a nude Adonis, we don't wonder to ourselves what his hopes and dreams are.

Look, you don't know a fucking thing about me. My last boyfriend was overweight and not conventionally, "Hollywood" gorgeous. But he was and is (even though it didn't work out) extremely handsome to me because he has the best fucking attitude on earth. And he doesn't have to. He had a horrible childhood, his family's shit, he has diabetes, etc. But there is almost nobody who knows him who doesn't love him, cuz he doesn't focus on even the legitimate negatives in his life, let alone the fucking petty ones like not looking like Ryan Reynolds.

I mean what do you propose we do about the fact that human beings tend to conflate physical attractiveness with character? Yes, we can make people aware of this so that it doesn't happen as much, but there will still be people—unintelligent and intellectually lazy people—who do this; it isn't exactly something you can outlaw. And other people's judgments go in the opposite direction: if someone has Ryan Reynolds's looks but an incessant woe-is-me attitude, I for one get no pleasure from looking at him.

So no, I'm not recommending that we "lionize" people based on looks just by pointing out that that is something that happens and always will happen. But it isn't grounds for a legitimate grievance when people recognize that some people are physically fitter and more beautiful than others, and you're definitely not making yourself more attractive by sulking over your appearance.

Well you posted here...no wonder.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

okay but you do realize the objectification of men is ALSO because of the patriarchy lmao shut up

Yes, yes, and terrorism is patriarchy, and female rapists are patriarchy, and GMOs are patriarchy. We get it, you cant let individuals take responsibility. Men are the core of all of life’s problems.

okay so at least we agree

Replace "patriarchy" and "men" with "Jews" and you've got something completely different.

[–]MenandBoysareGood 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I almost think that rebuttle response was done in /s. if not some folks are really sick.

[–]Imnotmrabut 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Try out "Jail Break the Patriarchy" and "Men Kampf".

[–]HotDealsInTexas 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It was blatant sarcasm.

[–]Plain_Bread 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This. I have no idea how some people don't realise this.

[–]holomanga 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jews are the patriarchy so the two are equivalent.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if some word has been invented to describe how both genders are oppressed by our system. Genderarchy or something.

[–]HotDealsInTexas 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'd honestly have a lot more respect for the feminist movement if they used "Traditional Gender Roles" (a more accurate term which doesn't assign blame or victimhood to one gender implicitly or explicitly) instead of "Patriarchy."

[–]NotMyButtBand 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is how I feel too. If their words (and actions) didn't display such an obvious gender bias I'd be with them.

[–]HotDealsInTexas 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's especially annoying because in every other context Feminists tend to call out and oppose gendered language (e.g. "Fireman," "Stewardess") for promoting harmful stereotypes. But blaming the entire world's problems on men is A-OK.

[–]NotMyButtBand 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right? one of my devout feminist friends admitted to me today that feminists use inaccessible language and are stuck in a positive feedback loop, then sent me a comic about poverty to explain "privilege" and why I don't understand that I have it.

[–]coke501 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How about the 'system'?

Classism is also nice. The only real opression in the 1st world

[–]ThePigmanAgain 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Classism is also nice. The only real opression in the 1st world

It's the primary one, but by no means the only one.

[–]SchalaZeal01 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yet a lot of divide-and-conquer is made to obscure this (feminism being a large part of it). The middle class kept contented with the modern equivalent of bread and games - more or less being the focus of almost every campaign promises, yet the cost of living goes up even for them. Just so they don't join in revolution with those who got nothing to lose (the chronically poor, the homeless, the mentally ill left to rot alone, veterans who got no medicaid when they need it).

The 1%'s long understood that bashing too hard on the poor makes for a slave war like the one famous with Spartacus in 73 BC. So they bash, but not as much as the stupid rich in Hunger Games, who were more or less literally asking to get a revolution.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. And in some ways it is more important to keep the middle class docile, as most revolutions i can think of have been a small group of pissed-off middle class men leading hordes of workers and peasants. The middle class has the education and hence the organizational abilities, and the poor have the sheer numbers. If you keep the working class docile, you deprive revolution of its body, and if you keep the middle class docile, you deprive it of its head.

[–]Beltox2pointO 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is the only systematic oppression, the rest is localised racism or sexism / homophobia

[–]Vedney 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Kyriarchy is actually the word for that. Spread the word.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

neato.

[–]Imnotmrabut 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wouldn't "Feministed" be the right word?

It has the right level of onomatopoeic irony to be a real word and an Ultra Poe at the same time.

[–]chavelah 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Kyriarchy?

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
