This is emblematic of feminine attack vectors ~ subtly twisting words into an insult. What she writes demonstrates a profound misunderstanding of how evolution works. Men do not decide to "evolve" or "devolve" ~ women pick the man with traits they desire from the pool of available mates. Simply put, if men are "devolving" it is because that is what women want. Setting aside the tens of thousands of years required to notice human evolution, that is. So, just call her out on her clear misunderstanding of both science and psychology and be done with it.

It's getting pretty tiring to read hateful opinions about men in national print. If the roles were reversed it would not be tolerated for a second. In fact it would never pass the chief editor's desk.

The only respite I have was reading some of the comments, majority of people from what I read condemned her.

Maureen Dowd is merely a common bigot. Although women make up the majority of the electorate that puts stupid men in power, she'd rather focus on four particularly stupid men, instead of the women who put them where they are. Men couldn't have done this alone, even if we wanted to.

Men aren't 'devolving' - whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean. All that's happening is that women have decided that their aren't enough men with enough cash to support them.

Women simply aren't interested in men with less social status than themselves. It's almost instant dealbreaker. ....And what happens in an economic recession that mostly hits male-dominated industries like manufacturing?

Men lose money, and thus social status.

Women's perception of there being no good men left is a direct result of the economic problems right now, but women like Dowd are either unaware of, in denial of, or willfully pretending not to know of the reason so as to further their own agenda, which seems to mostly revolve around getting a man purely for the sake of making that baby, and then casting him aside so that they go it alone.

When I think of it like that, it makes perfect sense. In a tough economy, feminism works as a reproductive strategy for women!

Maureen Dowd called Rand Paul a libertarian. He's actually a Republican, although Paul does share many libertarian positions (ideologically speaking).

That said, Dowd needs to look at the British House of Commons. Or at any sports event. Male passions inflamed by competition are nothing new.

She just wants to bash several American Republicans (with one Anthony Weiner reference to pretend she's not being utterly partisan) and claim she's proving that these men are being "hysterical."

The only reason men are "bad" is because the majority of the people in charge are men. Let's not forget that when a woman was in charge 250 or so years ago, she had her head chopped off for telling people to eat cake.

And all the people she mentioned? They have power, wealth and resources that most of us can't even imagine. And who's the majority when it comes to voters? Women. Here's a paper that shows that when it comes to elections in general, over 10% more women vote than men. So who's responsible for people like Dick Cheney? Look at the 2000 elections on the graph. 59.3 million women vs 51.3 million men voted. That's almost 20% more women than men. The difference in 2004 is almost the same.

So who's running the show here? Who's in "charge"? Especially when women show up and vote more than men. You'd think they would take at least some responsibility for themselves. Yeah not everyone voted for Bush or Cheney, and a lot of men didn't vote for them, but also a lot of women did. Otherwise there's no chance they would have been elected. And these people didn't get themselves elected to help you out, they helped themselves and their buddies out.

Corrupt politicians + ? = men's fault. Maybe we should start blaming women for all of the crime, youth failure in education and waste of taxpayer dollars, since you know, they're responsible for those things and "in charge" in those areas. Would that be fair?

I don't even know where to begin to address the idiocy of the claim she is trying to present. It's almost as if she doesn't understand or chooses not to acknowledge the many factors why the pool of candidates who run for political office and the incumbents are as they are.

Her faulty examples are hardly representative of men as a whole. It blows my mind that people actually read her drivel.
