I don't think the SCOTUS ruling is an opportunity for us. If anything it will detract from the momentum of the Depp trial.

I'm not so sure about this, honestly.

The JD Trail for sure represents a turn in how DV is perceived and it sets a precedent that can be referred to and built upon for quite some time.

With the other 2 things you mentioned, I'm not so sure.

I think the Roe v Wade issue will boost & galvanize feminist activism and attitudes. It is already framed as "men making decisions about women's bodies", so I don't see any real momentum for the MRM here quite the contrary, actually.

With Twitter I'm mostly neutral. If the changes that Elon Musk has announced really came to pass, there'd be a door open for us.

But then there's also the new government censorship lady that is a card carrying feminist and her installation seems to be a preparation to get government regulation of social media into place.

Also the Canadian government has created an initiative to monitor and deter "incel ideology" online (god knows what that will grow into).

Additionally several common wealth states have started an initiative to adopt a NetzDG like regulation into their respective national laws (again this is likely going to be used in ways not exactly beneficial for Men's Rights and/or this very sub).

I agree that the last week(s) brought a lot unprecedented change in quick succession, yet I'm sceptical whether the direction is going in the direction you proclaim it does or whether we are going to see a rather swift and drastic turn for the worse.

We need to remind people that there is a movement addressing these things, and it's not feminism. In fact don't even talk about feminism. Talk about the men's movement instead.

The feminists and their mindless drones are already shouting from the rooftops about how men have all the reproductive rights and the SCOTUS is only punishing women because they're fascists(?).

I don't think there's any positive traction MRAs can make on this issue as long as male sexuality is diminished and demonized. We're not seen as equal parents, whether it's in the creation or the continued raising of children, and we're not given basic protections like genital integrity and we have no say in the abortion/legal abandonment of our young.

It's a fine time to raise awareness within our communities to new members, but don't expect the average woman to catch wind and not shout "misogyny!". It's a topic that's too sacred to them to be rationally discussed at this point in time.

De facto ban of abortion is a triumph of conservatives, that is not good for the Mens rights. It puts men and women on more equal terms, though. But that is equality of misery.

If you think about it like an opportunity, it may indeed allow us to return into the big game. No one should become parent against will (men and women alike).

Some women are demanding men to participate in rallies against RvW overturn. Are these women supporting male reproductive rights? I guess, they want men to support women's only reproductive rights.

Hijacking the SCOTUS draft as a mens issue is not going to help anything. It will hurt everyone. Mens rights will gather less sympathy and more opposition. Women will be more infuriated at men and lose something that was considered the law of the land for their whole life! Think about that. Trying to slide in a men’s rights angle perpetuates what I see (and a lot of men seem to think in this sub) as a toxic relationship between ‘men’ and ‘women’. The arguments for roe v wade are strong enough without men wanting to get something out of it. It’s about women’s bodies and autonomy, solely. Any other issue surrounding that is an entirely different issue that will have to be fought in other ways.

Twitter takeover- Adding protection for men from false accusations online, holding accusers accountable

I am torn on this but am leaning towards the anti-takeover side, mainly because musk has proven himself to have a clear disregard for other people. Particularly when he accused a random person of something heinous and destroyed their reputation.

Freedom of speech is good and all, but when there is no accountability for what's being said, it poses na even greater risk imo.

Regarding your other points, completely agree.

Depp is an important case for DV, will serve as a reference point for many men in similar situations. If he took the next step to found, or at least throw his clout behind a foundation supporting male victims of DV, it would go a long way towards helping men.

The SCOTUS ruling is a touchy one, the moment you mention anything other than how abortion is a woman's right or women's bodily autonomy, you tend to get drowned out by screeches and accusations of misogyny, backseating, whatabouting, etc.

It's very difficult to approach this issue without triggering people's gynocentrism. Instead of buying into the feminist spouted lines of how a lack of abortion affects men, we could enthusiastically agree that abortion rights are beneficial, as they help provide men with reproductive rights by proxy per se. With clever wording maybe even trying to extend men's ability to get paper abortions in the process.

Yeah no. The scotus decision within itself is a no for me. That should stay how it is.
