SAME concern from a buddy of mine who knocked up a girl he was dating back in college. Didn't think he could afford it at the time. I MADE him send off to Canada for a DNA test, which evidently if it comes back negative it is then on Mom to fork out for the state test, and wouldn't you know it? Turns out that she had had a one night stand while they were dating. Of course, he found this out 3 months after expecting, receiving, and then raising what he thought was his child.

GET A PATERNITY TEST DONE.

Best thing I ever did was to have my daughter and I tested. Lets not forget all the men out there with lingering doubts, those who want to be fathers, and who hope that a paternity test will allow them to truely love their children without the nagging suspecion of an unfaithful partner. I fully support, and even though broke, would donate what I can in order to either put a potential father's mind at ease, or to allow him to live a life without the financial burden of another man's child.

Paternity tests have been available in drugstores in 30 states within the US since at least 2008.

Also, I think paternity tests should be mandatory in all cases where the parents of the child are unmarried.

I look at the tests you linked and wow, they are cheap.

I don't know how people manage not to be able to afford them given what they can save you in court and alimony costs.

I've been talking with GFI Labs. Each kit is $50 and I'm told that includes the lab fee--1 for the alleged father and another for the child in question--so $100 total. They have a coupon for 5% off, so really it's only $95 and they have free shipping. I'll buy the first kit and send it to the person that requested it to cut the cost in half. Then he can pick up the other kit and send them both in when he's able to. They'll email him the results a few days later.

I've been thinking about this more and I'll probably create a small static website with an email address and paypal link for donations. Maybe one day it'll grow into being a real organization if there's support. Personally I'd love to see it take off and have the kind of funding that could go towards lobbying for more fair and realistic child support laws and making paternity tests mandatory whenever child support is sought.

What a great thing you are doing. I do have to say though, in my state it is mandatory that you take a paternity test before one support payment. Is this not the same in every state? I didn't pay anything to have it done.

Call for MRM volunteers who do NOT live in New York state:

Paternity testing is currently illegal in New York State, unless ordered by court. This means that a man in New York cannot privately obtain paternity information. Obviously, the intent of the law is to protect vile mothers who engage in paternity fraud.

Can we organize a "underground rail-road" for specimens? New York men who suspect paternity fraud would send his e-mail and two zip-loc bags (cotton swab from himself and the presumed child) to an MRA outside of New York, along with a cashier's check for the cost of testing. The MRA would then prepare the paternity test kit. When the test results came back, the MRA would forward the e-mail to the address he was given.

New York is a HUGE state, and there is a good reason why feminists have worked hard to make paternity testing illegal here. Paternity fraud is very common here, and child support laws are vicious and ruinous.

FYI:

If a paternity test costs less than $200, it is probably not admissible in court. The cheap ones are (generally) just as reliable-- they use the same labs-- but they do not maintain a strict chain of custody, which is required for court-admissible evidence. When you see the $600+ tests versus the $80 tests, that's the difference.

So, if you just want to know, for yourself if you're the daddy, do the $80. If you want to do a "trial run" before shelling out the big money (potentially on her dime if it's not yours), do the $80. If you want something that will hold up in court, shell out the extra for the $600.

I believe paternity tests should be done automatically and routinely at birth, whenever a father is claimed. I fully support this effort.

Everyone knows all women are wh&$'s so it should just be automatic.....

At minimum no child support should be granted with out it. This should be doubly true for unwed parents.
