Now imagine the collective backlash if someone were to make a sub called r/agianstwomensrights

[–]The_German_One38 points 8 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

There is a subreddit which's name is an equivalent. You just have to spell it correctly.

r/againstwomensrights

But it was a direct reaction to r/againstmensrights, and is virtually dead now.

Edit: Fascinating. My general link is ok, but the answer, which probably was the top-3-topics-bot, gets deleted...

[–]theothermod[M] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have no idea why that happened. I've restored it anyway.

[–]The_German_One1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I have no idea why that happened.

It's a bot. It does exactly what it's programmed to do. One of you mods programmed it to delete this post, so it deleted this post.

[–]sneakpeekbot 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Here's a sneak peek of /r/againstwomensrights using the top posts of the year!

#1: Why the hell can't you all just get along? | 0 comments
#2: Just got band from againstmensright for pointing out they were being sexiest and said if genders were reversed it wouldn’t be allowed. But I guess I was wrong. But 12,000 women don’t want men right only 33 men believe that about women’s rights. So which gender is more sexist.
#3: So what’s up?

Sadly this is literally what many "feminists" consider r/mensrights to be. Which is pretty pathetic.

[–]JebberJabber 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That is largely what MensRights is. Feminism is regarded here as the root of most of men's problems, so this could be called AgainstFeminism. Feminists would translate that to AgainstWomensRights, and call this a hate sub. Which they do.

[–]PietroGori1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

feminism is the "root" of many of men's problems, but the largest issue is societal values overall, feminism just amplifies them

[+]hongda2018 -9 points-8 points-7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well the world would be a better place if women had no voting rights. This is a fact.

[–]JebberJabber 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Earth has two suns, that is a fact.

Also, in Saudi Arabia women are now allowed to vote and to stand as candidates in municipal elections. So your options are limited if you can't handle sharing the vote with women. You would enjoy the Saudi rules on domestic violence complaints though.

[–]PietroGori1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

lol

[–]HeForeverBleeds 33 points34 points35 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That place and r/GenderCritical are a couple of the most genuinely misandric subreddits. Of course, they didn't make Vice's list of most "toxic subreddits"

Then again, the kind of people who write Vice articles are probably frequenters of anti-male subs in the first place

[–]OnePunchSnowman 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

/r/dankmemes is racism

Lmao Vice people actually read this shit? Thats like saying pewdiepie is a nazi because he shows hitler footage.

That article belongs on /r/cringeanarchy tbh

[–]Moonvie 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Vice is basically a radical far-left media outlet. Why would they call out their own?

[–]catratdog 47 points48 points49 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That place is sinister, it's like a sub for pedophiles. Truly evil folk. I recommend not engaging them.

Some people hate men and boys. That's just the way it is.

[–]Coteddy 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's truly disgusting...

[–]catratdog 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think it likely that some of the people on that sub were molested by their fathers or something. They hate men and boys, and most of their comments are just sad. I won't say they are dangerous and want to harm boys, but who knows. They are clearly sick.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I won't say they are dangerous and want to harm boys, but who knows.

"Who knows", indeed. It wouldn't be the first time anti-male radfems have acted on their hatred

[–]catratdog 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're clearly very disturbed people. I mean, imagine taking time out of your life to oppose some group of other people achieving equal rights. It sends shivers down my spine.

[–]Historybuffman 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I got banned there for pointing out discrimination against men (pertaining to firing a man for being a man) is illegal...

Yes, you probably read that right.

[–]Coteddy 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I personally don't understand how an actual subreddit called "AgaintsMansRights" is even allowed to... exist...

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Would it make you feel better if I suggest it is presumably against the sub MensRights, not against men having rights? (I have not been there).

It is to be expected that people from here who look at the sub will decide it is not just against this sub but also against men having rights.
There is nothing which can be done about that, it is exactly the same as feminists coming here and seeing nothing but misogyny. That's why I almost never recommend visiting this sub to feminists, it isn't going to achieve anything useful.

[–]Coteddy 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, it's intended to be against the sub... but when you think about what this sub stands for, and how they stand against this sub...

Also, if you check over there, it appears they're mostly crazy fem-nazis against men's rights in general.

[–]Coteddy 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

All I did was simply reply to a comment to correct them. They have since muted me. Apparently I'm gross for having a different opinion than them, and for spreading factual, logical information.

[–]HeForeverBleeds 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What did you expect? Any people who describe themselves as being 'against men's rights' are not going to be reasonable people willing to listen to logic. They're literally against men's rights; not just the subreddit r/mensrights, but against men having rights. They made a post angry about the fact that a woman raping a man at gunpoint was getting awareness

[–]Northernrebel56 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy shit! I just went over there for the first time.some of Those chicks are dumb as shit. I think the call dudes "misters" is that a bad term? I thought it was respectful? Won't need to go to that sub again.thanks for the heads up.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same with James Damore at Google.

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some of the grossest people I've met were all about Facts And Logic. I've found it tends to be an indicator of a deficit in other social skills (especially insight) when people talk about how logical and factual they are. It is very common in autistic people. Just take a peek at InCels for examples, or MGTOW to a lesser extent.

[–]UnitysBlueTits 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I've noticed that there are a lot of unjust asshole mods in all those types of subs

[–]theothermod 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

A lot, indeed.

AMR has 18 moderators for a sub with fewer than 10,000 subscribers. That's one mod for each 520 users.

We have 8 mods for over 170,000 subscribers. That's one mod for each 21,250 users.

That means AMR has 40 times as many mods per user as MensRights does.

One of the typical characteristics of feminist subs is the huge number of moderators relative to users. I suspect this is so they can quickly find and ban dissenting views.

[–]shit-zen-giggles 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

also it's a form of VIP in group signalling. A factor, I wouldn't underestimate.

[–]JebberJabber 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Correct. MR doesn't need many mods because our mod policy is very loose.
It is worth thinking about why we can do this, while so many other subs can not.

"Because we love free speech and are not scared of opposing views" is not a plausible reason. There is plenty of love for free speech professed on the first four subs, they use the term far more than normal people do.

As for bravery in the face of opposing views, most RedPillers are ex SEALs and clean their balls with a wire brush. They ain't scared of anything. If they were, you wouldn't know because they would be performing Response 37: Amused Indifference.

Consider what features this list of strictly moderated subs have in common:

MGTOW
TheRedPill
Incels
The_Donald

FeMRADebates

Feminist subs
Women's subs

Support subs:
SuicideWatch
SelfHarmPics
RaisedByNarcissists
(We have ones for most mental illnesses). They all have rules but some are very strict, like the ones above.

[–]theothermod 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm intrigued. What features do you consider such a bunch of ideologically opposed subs to have in common?

Our mod policy is indeed quite loose by reddit standards. So loose that many people think we don't have one. We do remove some posts and ban some redditors, but I guess they're not missed all that much. :)

I'd like to see your opinion about why this works for us and not for many others, too.

I have my own guesses, but feedback from others is important.

[–]jeff_the_nurse 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What did you even say?

[–]Coteddy 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

One person mocked woman wanting a mans love, or a mutual relationship with a man, and than summarized what the original poster said (A mans rights advocate) in a negative, insulting way. I scoffed at their philosophy and made a suggestion that they might be biased because the original poster was from mans rights, and that she probably despised the poster for having a different opinion than hers. They banned me within minutes.

[–]jeff_the_nurse 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Congratulations!

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you do the normal thing of doing enough lurking to get a feel for what is acceptable on the sub, and carefully considering the sub's rules before commenting? Failure to do that is a self-inflicted injury.

I haven't seen it but from the name it sounds like a hate sub, if so then you kind of have to expect to be hated if you are a member of the target group.

[–]Its_Not_Over_Yet 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ha, of course GearyDigit is part of that sub. He's a self-loathing loser, SRS member and one of Reddit's biggest pieces of shit.

[–]PietroGori1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

what is SRS?

[–]JebberJabber 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

ShitRedditSays, a SJW circlejerk that exists to poke fun at things they find outrageous. It is a counterpart to TiA, SRD and the cringe subs.

I can't stand any of them. They are all about in-group virtual signalling, mutual masturbation, self-congratulation, cherry picking, strawmanning and wallowing in hatred.

They tend to develop their own obscure culture involving multiple layers of irony so it is hard for an outsider to even know what they are saying some of the time.

[–]PietroGori1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

"They tend to develop their own obscure culture involving multiple layers of irony so it is hard for an outsider to even know what they are saying some of the time"

Sounds like almost any other political sub

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True I guess.

[–]TheJazzProphet 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, what a hateful community. I couldn't imagine willfully engaging with such venomous and spiteful people. Reading this sub often makes me feel cynical, but it seems like people on that sub do it just to fuel their vindictive fury. It just makes me sad for the state of discourse on sexual politics.

[–]Lupinfujiko 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't realize there was such a hateful subreddit.

I feel even more cynical now.

[–]angels_fan 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is a religion that cannot survive open challenges of their dogma. It can only survive in a highly moderated environment where criticism against the dogma is silenced quickly.

[+]v574v -43 points-42 points-41 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

They banned you and now I’m downvoting you for bringing your nonsense here - it’s rough day for you princess.

[–]Coteddy 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Lol. I'm not mad. I find this situation quite amusing. The intention of the post is to bring awareness of the discrimination and the toxicity that goes on over there. Also, it appears your the one getting the downvotes, not me

[+]v574v -10 points-9 points-8 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The intention of the post is to bring awareness of the discrimination and the toxicity that goes on over there.

That's why it's a shit post - it's so bloody obvious it's obnoxious.

I hear feminism bans people for criticizing feminism - so head there next and bring that garbage back here so you can show us just how awful they are too.

Menslib is your next stop - I can't wait to see how poorly they take to your criticism.

Then head over to Canada and tell those people 'canada sux' and remember to bring that back here so we can see how Canadians take to trollin.

Oh and on your way back here let those starwars people know just how much you like startrek more and let us know about what happens.

I don't blame you - it's low hanging fruit.

[–]MelissaClick 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

LOL, how come you're not banned here? Yeah every single FEMINIST forum everywhere on the internet will always ban criticism, but it isn't true about EVERY FORUM about every topic.

[–]v574v 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So why the hell should this subreddit find an interest that this dude was banned over on a subreddit that bans everybody for any reason?

Why should MRA find novelty in the all too obvious?

Random person: Hey MRA! I went out in the rain and got wet!

MRAs: OoOoOooooooO! Upvotes and reddit gold for you!

[–]MelissaClick 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You fail to answer the question.

[–]v574v 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I assumed it was rhetorical.

The mods appear to value free speech would be your answer.

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Most of the MRM subs are hyper-sensitive about criticism, MensRights is an exception. There is strict moderation at MGTOW, TRP, Incels. And The_Donald of course. Free Speech!!!

[–]PietroGori2 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I wouldn't really call these other subs for MRM subs, they're mostly just misogynist

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish feminists would learn the difference. They do the occasional article describing a visit to a MRA site but the articles tend to be disappointingly shallow compared to their author's other work.

It is very easy to write a OMG hatred!!! article and our open mod policy makes it even easier.

Since InCels and MGTOW are lost in misogyny and TRP is sociopathic I'd be happy to see them cast out of the MRM label if that could be achieved.

[–]v574v 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hyper-sensitive? I’m merely pointing out that this is a low quality post and look at the result! If this was war I’d of been already shot yesterday at dawn.

[–]JebberJabber 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I meant their mod policy is hyper sensitive.
Our users do seem to be rather delicate. I'm disappointed at the downvotes you are getting.

[–]HerboIogist 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
