There's a comedian who has an interesting take on it. Essentially said that if you want to claim you are a woman you need to be able to do some things only women do. His examples:

Break into his iPhone while he's using the bathroom to check his social media accounts
Be starving and have absolutely no idea what you want to eat
Remember things from a decade ago which have already been apologized for multiple times
Wake from a dream where husband cheated and treat him like crap all day long because you¡re pissed at the dream version of him that lives in your head

I always thought that if you do at least one of the 3 (nurture, support & inspire) that's all you need on the woman's side.

Whereas on the man's side if you do at least one of the 4 (protect, provide, lead & create) it's all you need.

Nothing beyond that & anything else is a bonus

That's the original meaning of "fragile masculinity": the notion that being a man, unlike being a woman, is a position that can be and will be questionned if you stray away from gendered expectation.

Men have to constantly prove their worthiness of being treated "as a man", and therefore as a human being. A "not a man" will absolutely not be granted refuge as a woman, he'll be thrown into some lower category (pansy, sissy, coward, deadbeat, soyboy, fag, nerd take your pick). There are variations in the intensity, or even existence, of this phenomenon between social circles and societies, of course.

That's the heart of homophobia, and why lesbians face it very little.

Like many other things, the notion has been turned into a slur by radfem internet trolls, unfortunately. And ironically. "Calling out" the fragile masculinity of someone is questionning wether they are a real man, "secure" in his masculinity, reinforcing limiting gender stereotypes while pretending to be fighting them.

'Real man' is a control word to get a man to crash out in service to a woman; it is an attack on his ego.

Women do not have such a burden of performance (anymore), so 'real woman' doesn't affect them.

One of my women coworkers said that a guy we work with wasn't a real man because he cried when he broke his toe.

She also said a woman isn't a real woman until she has kids.

That's true, and starting to use "real woman" would just exasperate the problem. We want "Real man" gone, not validate the gender manipulation nonsense by applying it to women too right?

There's a better way to divide imo. Man and Woman signify gender sure, but they also signify adulthood.

It makes much morse sense to me to define functional and failed adults than real/not real men and women.

If someone pulls "Real man" crap on you, it also works nicely to call them a child in return, and also explain to them why they don't qualify as adults.

A real woman is feminine. “Feminism” should be called “Manism” because there’s nothing feminine about it, it’s all about women behaving like men, dressing like men, working like men, drinking like men, smoking like men… The result is children with severe mental problems. History will look back on this time as complete madness.

I’m a woman and I think the “real” men are the ones who don’t put up with this BS and aren’t afraid to call women out.

I call women out as loosers if I think they are, not sure why women should be exempt from being seen as deadbeats, I see more deadbeat single mothers then I see deadbeat men in a week.
