Systemic oppression of men is the actual norm around the world.

There are only a handful of shit holes around the globe where women are oppressed under their laws. Men being discriminated against is the norm globally. From draft, age of retirement, reproductive rights, etc.

In the UK of the 1960s, the prevailing retirement age of the time (60 for women, 65 for men) had been calculated by actuaries. Men were expected to live, on average, for a matter of MONTHS. Most men died well before 65, as heavy smoking was commonplace. Women, by contrast, were anticipated to enjoy another fifteen years of life, where her husband's National Insurance contributions would ensure that she was looked after, by a State Pension from beyond the grave.

It's all about protecting women. Always has been. We've got the memo now, though, it can't hide in plain sight any longer.

With private pension funds, occupations with high female memberships, like teachers, were in deep financial trouble in the 1960s.

Have the law for retirement changed to 90% of average life expectancy. For males and females. If males average life expectancy is 60, males can retire at 54, if females life expectancy is 70, females can retire from 63.

This will shift policies to make middle aged females social economic benefactors in society.

If female average life expectancy then increases to 75, retirement age will become 68.

It will create a paradigm shift.

Personally I would prefer equal retirement age for both sexes. I don't support higher retirement age for women on the basis of their longer life expectancy, for the same reason I don't support car insurance companies discriminating against men on the basis of them causing more road accidents. I prefer equality before the law rather than equality of outcome.

Personally, I think retirement should be at 50-55, more for women because they live longer. And what you work after that age to be extra. And pension to be something like minimum an average salary in the economy. This will force the states to adjust the more realistic numbers and young people to find higher paying jobs.

Men subsidize women their whole lives. Social security as an example you brought up. Also, in many states, pregnancy is considered a “disability” so they’re able to raid disability insurance money as well

We should fight either to eliminate pensions altogether or for people to contribute proportionally to the expected number of years the pension should be paid after retirement.

Example. Women retire 50, die 70 in average. Man retire 60, die 65. Women benefit 20 years, men 5. Pension contribution for women should be 4 times more expensive for the same salary.

As it is now men subdidize women pension all around the globe.

It was not a big issue if most men would get married and had kids, as they would basically subsidize their wife pension, which is fine. But in todays world were most men don't marry and women don't have kids, this is not working anymore. Its clear wealth transfer from men to women, through the state.

One should know china has a different culture than Europe/usa. The pensions are quite low, and they're expected to be fulltime care-takers for their grandchildren.

The more socially conservative a country is, the more likely are disadvantageous retirement ages and complusary military service for men only. You can see that very well comparing different EU member states with each other.

Something similar is that in the U.S., companies used to charge women more (versus a man at the same age, and same risk factors such as being a smoker) if they wanted to buy an annuity. (An annuity is where you give a company a lump sum of money in exchange for monthly payments for the rest of your life). This was due to their longer life expectancy and mathematically, it was perfectly fair.

I forget when this got challenged and changed ('70s I think) to being the same.

I don't think higher retirement age for women is right. It would be still discriminatory, even if women live, on average, few years longer than men.

I'm aware, though, of the issue of higher retirement age for men in some countries. China, Russia, Belarus, Poland - and maybe few others? It's a breach of gender equality, that's why it's wrong. The retirement age should be equal - without gender differences, caveats and other crap.

I think for Genz like me useful thinking would to not expect any kind of retirement if you live in country with a stagnated population, unless robots take most of the jobs by that time.

I don't really care about what age they retire but the payout should be actuarily equivalent to what they paid in and also consider their life expectancy - just like any other annuity would. When you have a quantifiable risk factor (like life expectancy differences due to sex) no group should be subsidizing another group.

I'm sorry but this makes zero sense. Regardless of sex if you work your whole life you should get to retire at the same time as other people who worked their whole life. I'm sorry that women live longer, but this isn't equal at all. I'm all for everyone being able to retire earlier tho.

Women retiring later that men is impossibly optimistic.

A change that would not be drastic as a first step could be for men and women to retire at the same age, and for women to retire a year earlier for every child they gave birth to (max. 3 years) because of medical consequences to the body and all, something like that (Keeping also in mind children will also help sustain the economy overall).

Edit: also, retirement age could also be decreased for men and increased for women to a new average amount.

E.g. in a country where men retirement age is 70 and women's is 65, then it could become 67 or 68 for both.

No, women don’t live longer than men due to being biologically gifted. Women have shown to be more affected by genetical disorders and studies have shown that they are more likely to develop cancer in their lifetime than men. They were perceived to live longer to them, due to being less exposed to risk factors, such as but not limited to: stress, use of tobacco, drinking, more harmful sunlight exposure, etc. Furthermore the use of hormonal contraceptives add another layer of risk factors such as getting fat and another layer of cancer risk which goes on top of their biology. So no, they shouldn’t retire later than men due to their lifespan. If we are talking about equality, they should retire at the same age as men.

This is a stupid argument. We have no idea when each individual person is going to die. If we did then we would just limit everyone's retirement until they had a very specific amount of retirement time. And then over the years that retirement time with shrink and shrink and shrink. You do not want to go down this route just because you're mad at women.
