We've all heard it - the aggravating fact that lone women you approach just may see you as a "Schrodingers rapist", i.e. somebody who may or may not sexually assault them.
I bet it pisses you off. And you know what? It does sound unfair. But it's not; it's merely very unfortunate.
That'll probably piss you off even more, so hey, don't take my word for it, read these:
http://freethoughtblogs.com/crommunist/2012/01/16/shuffling-feet-a-black-mans-view-on-schroedingers-rapist/
TLDR: "I’ve frequently heard people object to the Schroedinger’s Rapist argument as sexist, with anti-black racism used as a counter-example. I reject this comparison because it neglects two important factors: 1) that the issue under discussion is about whether or not we want women to feel more comfortable; and 2) that black people often make similar behavioural adjustments to accommodate the racism of their white friends. I share some personal stories to illustrate this.
Update: Comrade Physioprof has made this excellent observation: “It is not “sexist” for women to view all men as potential rapists, because (other than in prison) men possess the privilege of being subject to a vanishingly small likelihood of being raped by either men or women, while women are subject to a substantial likelihood of being raped by men. In contrast, it is “racist” for white people to view all black people as potential criminals, because (as far as I can discern from available crime statistics) white people are the ones who possess the privilege of being less likely to be crime victims than black people, and they are more likely to be victims of crimes committed by white people than by black people.”
http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2011/07/05/women-in-elevators-a-man-to-ma/
TLDR: "Guys (and some gals) who are not getting this are making two mistakes. First, they consider the event post hoc and say that no one was attacked or raped, therefore there was no threat of rape or anything else serious. If it didn’t happen, it couldn’t have happened. (I will assume you get why that is stupid.) Second, they think of this sort of thing generally and figure that the chances that Elevator Guy was a real threat was low. Why or how they assess this is beyond me, since they weren’t there, but I suppose statistically it is a reasonably valid guess … chances are the foam is just drool, chances are the frenetic behavior is just confusion, chances are the zombie-like state of the 160 pound dog is just … oh, wait, sorry, I was talking about Elevator Guy. Right. Chances are that Elevator Guy was just a socially ignorant slightly drunk dweeb of no consequence.
Or not. And it is the “or not” part that a woman MUST pay attention to in order to live her life as long as she can before her first sexual assault, or to increase the amount of time spent between her last sexual assault and her next one, or to make the next sexual assault hopefully non-fatal or something that she can get out of quickly or minimize in some way."
Thoughts?

There are two groups here that we need to distinguish between:
The greater atheist / skeptic movement; a set of people that strongly advocate for evidence-based reasoning and the use of critical thinking skills. As such, they are actually likely to come into conflict with Feminist theory, as the latter is not particularly compatible with logic.1 Examples of such persons include Richard Dawkins, and YouTube users TheAmazingAtheist and Thunderf00t.
A small but vocal segment within the larger atheist / skeptic movement that also profess to be Feminists, despite the inherent conflict this would seem to suggest.2 Examples of such persons include Rebecca Watson, Surly Amy, PZ Myers and very likely the entire roster of the ironically-titled FreeThoughtBlogs.
The reason I believe it important to stress the divide between these two groups is one of pragmatism: the greater atheist / skeptic community are, by the simple expedient of their own advocacy, completely at odds with Feminism. This is a position that we should absolutely look to encourage; not tear down through the incorrect belief that Watson and her cohorts are representative of the larger whole, or a misguided desire to align the men's rights movement with religion.
1 This is not a cruel putdown, but unfortunate and abject truth - portions of Feminist theory posit, amongst other things, that: the scientific method is inherently male; formal logic is patriarchal; learned experience (that is to say, anecdotes) supersede statistical evidence; and so on.
2 "Feminist and skeptic" makes no more sense than "Christian and skeptic" or "Spirit medium and skeptic".

I think it is important to stress here that skepticism is nothing more than the premise of testing in order to establish provisional conclusions (and inversely, dismissing conclusions that cannot be established through testing). Similarly, atheism is in many respects skepticism, as applied to religion.
Now certainly, I imagine there may be a proclivity on left-leaning types to adopt a skeptical outlook. However, I believe this can simply be attributed to the fact that statistically, leftists tend to eschew the moral axis of respect for tradition and authority; that rightists, on the contrary, score highly; and that consequently, a movement that in many respects comes into opposition with authority and tradition is going to be far more welcoming to one than the other.
I do however agree that in most groups - and in this regard, the atheist and skeptic community are no exception - one may find examples of persons that identify as members of the group, but seem to be in opposition to the group's central tenets. Again, Watson and Myers strike me as perfect examples of this phenomena - they identify as skeptics, but also embrace an ideology that is close to being the very antithesis of skeptical.
(Similarly, one may indeed run into persons that hold science into the same unassailable regard as others may hold their religion; but again, such persons should be called out as examples of faux skeptics, not examples of the failure of skepticism).
Now, as for the incompatibility of identifying as a Christian, and identifying as a skeptic: I am afraid I am having trouble following your logic, and would greatly appreciate it if you could possible elucidate matters for me. Are you perhaps arguing that a person might accept the existence of (say) a historical Jesus, accept also that the existence of God cannot be proven, and therefore simultaneously occupy the position of both Christian and skeptic?
As for the skeptic-Feminist alliance, I do agree with your assessment of a parallel to the Feminist-gay rights alliance; I would even state that both alliances suffer from much the same problem (that the causes of skepticism and gay rights both appear to align with Feminism as it is normally presented (i.e. the uncontroversial battle for gender equality), but in reality are strongly at odds with Feminism as it actually conducts itself (i.e. an unabashed female advocacy and even supremacy movement).
On a final note: thanks for the comments; I have found them to be quite thought-provoking.

It would perhaps be more accurate to state that skepticism promotes the premise that we can only build conclusions based on testing; and even then, these conclusions may be invalidated or superseded in future by contradictory evidence. By extension, atheism makes no claim that god does not exist per se; but rather, that the evidence is so infinitesimally lacking that god should be accorded the same degree of heed as mythological creatures (i.e. none).
There are some less than scrupulous parties who have, in the past, chosen to misrepresent the atheist position from one of "The existence of god lacks sufficient proof, and can therefore be discounted" to one of "God does not exist"; as the latter takes the form of a declarative statement, it would appear that the onus of proof moves onto the shoulders of the atheists. However, this is argumentative sleight-of-hand; the onus of proof always resides with the party making the positive claim (in this case, the theists).
Put another way, the conclusive position that god does not exist is essentially in and of itself unprovable; and would be anathema to a skeptic.
This also means that a skeptic may ignore god today, on the grounds that god is unproven; but that tomorrow, should evidence of god become apparent, that the skeptic will accept (following appropriate testing). This would both be consistent with the principles of skepticism, and an excellent means by which to detect the sort of pseudo-skeptics that have glommed onto skepticism purely for the purpose of working an anti-religious or similar agenda. Again, Watson and Myers stand out specifically because they not only accept Feminism at face value, but engage in the sorts of anti-argumentative techniques normally associated with the very worst of traditional skeptic opposition.
As for the idea of a Christian skeptic; I do see what you are getting at. I believe I would phrase the position as more one of "Christian, and formal skeptic in other matters"; but I suspect I may be arguing semantics.
I do find myself agreeing with your assessment on the matter of alliances between social movements; both the skeptic-Feminist and Feminist-gay rights alliances are built around a left-right marriage of convenience, and not necessarily a true alignment of ideals. This very sub-reddit, for instance, contains a number of men of a gay or bisexual orientation - myself among the latter - that see Feminism as a potentially far greater impingement than, say, theoconservatism. I think not only should we seek to associate with such individuals, but that such individuals will of their own accord seek out and associate with the men's rights movement.
As for the conversation: likewise! I'm only sorry that we can't do this sort of thing while seated in antique wingback chairs and armed with a fine selection of cigars and Scotch.
