Backstory: Hooked up with this girl here and there for a couple months then we went our separate ways. Meanwhile she has a kid. Years go by. Her and I have absolutely no contact with each other. We dont live in the same state (or country for a while). I get arrested after a traffic ticket for failing to appear to court. I show up to court and find out she's suing me for support. I go through that whole process (jail, extradition, bail, courts, etc) and get a DNA test. The test comes back and the kid is mine. Judge orders support.

Meanwhile: I make a small 6 figures or about 3-4x her income. The court follows the "state guidelines" for support obligations and back-dated the bill to when she filed YEARS ago. Before I can even appeal the ruling I'm on the hook for 10's of thousands of dollars in arrears that accrue interest! They suspended my drivers license, "dinged" my credit report, revoked my passport, and are docking my pay 15% / pay period after taxes, and intercepting any IRS refunds.

Now: I'm basically a walking prisoner. Now missing 30% of my (not including health insurance) monthly income has made it completely unaffordable to maintain my residence (irs still gets their 28% taxes too!). Forget about quality of living. My career is basically over as I have to travel (states-side and internationally), do financial disclosures, background checks, and security clearances. After next month wont be able to afford to maintain payments on loans & credit cards. Oh, and did I mention that I already have a kid that I actually raise and am trying to send to college?

TL;DR: Pretty much fucked - going to go drink & smoke myself into an early grave. At least then my life insurance & stuff will kick in.
