Why would anyone do that?

Found the feminist.

[–]cuteman 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why would anyone do that?

I don't know but to suggest that no one ever would is the first step in convicting an innocent person.

People lie for all sorts of reasons.

It's interesting that people are almost always willing to believe an individual assaulted another individual but almost never willing to believe an individual lied.

[–]HendoRules 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's hard to decide if nowadays people are more likely to lie and whatever the alternative would have been. Lies and misinformation is rampant rn

Found the feminist.

Nah, the behavior isn't reasonably rational, and thus, it's perfectly reasonable to be baffled that someone actually does it anyway.

[–]LondonDude123 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All depends on what your 2nd question is?

"Why would anyone do that? What is wrong with them" vs "Why would anyone do that? Theres no way its true"

[–]Rolaid-Tommassi 109 points110 points111 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is why "believe all women" is so important to feminists.....because it will give them a powerful weapon to use against men.

I mean you would have to be blind. If alex Jones can be fined for $45m then what price is a false accusation? This horrible women should be left penniless and pay this innocent for the rest of her life if she can not afford the fine. She got two years that isn’t long enough.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She IS penniless and homeless.

2 years in prison is a huge lifestyle improvement for her

[–]Redram78 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Part of her income should go to him like she is paying income tax

[–]NoCommunication5976 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

I think around 40~ million is fair, because that’s more than most people make in their life, and fake accusations ruin lives and affect several people per case. Plus, taking into account Al jones fame, it is significantly less. Plus, the money will be enough to pay for some of the damage caused.

[–]Explise209 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No regular person can afford that, even if it is the theroatical fair amount

[–]NoCommunication5976 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No man can afford being falsely accused. It’s a mathematically and logically ideal number, solidified by the fact that anyone who ruins another’s life should endure temporary financial debt. Plus, the false accuser could just take out a loan.

[–]fools_errand49 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Alex Jones is a very different person from Joe Rogan.

[–]NoCommunication5976 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]fools_errand49 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They both are. You must have had a typo probably, but it would be like if I started talking about that time Samuel Jackson hit Chris Rock at the Oscars. Someone is bound to step in and point out that it was Will Smith who did that and not Samuel Jackson.

[–]NoCommunication5976 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it was a typo I get them mixed up all the time

[–]oafsalot 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

2 years is actually a good outcome. I mean sure it could be longer but in reality, it could have also been suspended pending good behaviour.

[–]IronJohnMRA 74 points75 points76 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

'Due to this Mr X had problems with his ex-girlfriend for a few weeks but she eventually let him see his son again, but those initial weeks were extremely hard.'

She should be in prison for that. She doesn't have the right to just decide to he can't see his own child because of an accusation. She is not much different than the false accuser herself.

[–]oafsalot 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The Police informed her that her ex-partner was a risk to her child. If it'd been a female rapist and a male parent the same thing would have happened. I for one wouldn't let my ex see our son if the Police came and told me this, because if I had I'd be considered a risk to him by social services.

Believe no one until their day in court.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (40 children) | Copy Link

What if it never goes to trial?

[–]deathtoads61 81 points82 points83 points 4 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

Then don't believe it. If it didn't go to trial it's probably due to lack of evidence.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (37 children) | Copy Link

But it could be true. Dismissing something that may be true because it hasn't been proven with complete certainty is a very extremist way to look at things.

For example, if 7 women say they were drugged by a man in a bar but it was never proven... and my sister says she is going for a drink with him... assuming all 7 women are lying and not telling my sister anything is terrible advice.

[–]NeoNotNeo[S] 53 points54 points55 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Why wouldn’t the 7 women press charges.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

Because there's no evidence. Like how cosby got away with it all those years.

[–]deathtoads61 53 points54 points55 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If there's no evidence how do you know it happened?

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't. But I'm sure as hell going to warn him to be vigilant because it's better safe than sorry.

It horrified me that you would let your brother go on that date and maybe have his life ruined.

[–]deathtoads61 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So do you believe the accusations or not because you're flip flopping sides. You should be vigilant around any strangers or even people you're close to regardless of whether not they have been accused or have accused someone else of something. You could always be someone's first victim so basing it off of accusations that have never been proven is dumb.

[–]ForeignSmell 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe is because they all team up on the dude. And want a cash settlement. But risk management is still needed just ask your sister to being a friend to watch.

[–]Fast-Mongoose-4989 -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Wasn't Cosby found innocent on all the charges?

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No, he was found guilty, but got out of prison eventually on a technicality regarding the proceedings.

[–]Fast-Mongoose-4989 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The technicality be a major lack of proof our evidence from what I heard he was guilty because some women said he was guilty with out proof.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

It wasn't that, it was that he initially struck a deal with the prosecutor to testify in a civil trial on the grounds that he wouldn't be prosecuted criminally. The court overturned his conviction because they found that using his initial testimony in the criminal trial was a violation of due process.

It other words, his ruling wasn't overturned because of a lack of evidence or anything indicating that he didn't do it (he almost certainly did, especially with the smoking gun that was his testimony), it was an error on the part of the attornies that rendered part of their argument inadmissible.

The court made the right call, because we all have these consitutional rights for a reason, but unfortunately in this case a guilty man walked free.

[–]Fast-Mongoose-49890 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Well if due process was ignored then even if he's guilty he should go free but if he is guilty I hope he doesn't walk free forever and spends some time behind bars.

[–]IronJohnMRA 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dismissing something that may be true because it hasn't been proven with complete certainty is a very extremist way to look at things.

Gotta disagree. It sounds like how the presumption of innocence would work during a criminal trial. Doesn't seem extremist at all. It would be part of day to day life for juries.

[–]TheSnesLord 48 points49 points50 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

For example, if 7 women say they were drugged by a man in a bar but it was never proven... and my sister says she is going for a drink with him... assuming all 7 women are lying and not telling my sister anything is terrible advice.

The 7 women in the bar could have planned and conspired to screw the man over.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

They could have! I would be against him being executed or put in prison. Still don't want my sister having a drink with him because I have common sense.

[–]eldred2 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nice straw man.

Seven women all making the same claim is evidence. He said, they all said is very different from he said, she said. Also, if they were drugged there would likely be physical evidence of drug residue in their blood/urine. However, even if not, seven witnesses all giving the same account is powerful evidence in and of itself.

What we're talking about in the case referred to in the article posted by OP is 1 woman accusing 1 man.

[–]SappySoulTaker 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason that courts require guilt to be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt is because we don't want 7 shitheads ganging up on someone and then going to jail for the rest of their life over lies. It still happens unfortunately even under the current circumstances.

[–]deathtoads61 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Assuming guilt based off accusations that haven't been proven is worse than assuming innocence until proven guilty. If 7 women were drugged in a bar there would be evidence.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (13 children) | Copy Link

So you would just let your sister go without saying anything?

[–]deathtoads61 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm not arguing your fictional made up story.

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

No. You're saying it's inappropriate to say anything to my sister and I have to quietly let her get a drink with someone that may or may not be a rapist. Which is obviously pretty crazy to say which is why you're not able to answer the direct question.

[–]deathtoads61 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No I'm saying if 7 women were accusing a man of drugging them there would be evidence of it happening and they should have reported it so it can be proven true or false instead of jumping on the "believe all women" wagon while people are being falsely accused all the time. Would you warn your brother if he was going out with a woman who claimed to have been raped by 7 men but never reported any of them?

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Definitely. Like in a second. Would you not?!?!

[–]deathtoads6110 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah sure you would.

[–]NeoNotNeo[S] 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So you would let your brother go to jail without evidence

[–]BrendaFarthington1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Nope. Not at all... never said anything close to that.

[–]Nightstalkerjoe2 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I mean your kind of implying that by basically saying your treating someone like criminal when there’s no evidence of wrong doing all based just because someone accused someone

[–]TextDependent6779 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

i mean, tbf, she's not implying to send them off to jail.

however, she is definitely implying to treat her brother like a criminal and a villain despite a lack of evidence. an idea which is pretty sucky.

[–]Nightstalkerjoe211 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yes which is horrifically shitty

[–]Sandwhale123 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Still don't have to believe shit, anyone can lie, even as a group. Claims are to be acknowledged and investigated, not believed.

[–]InigoThe2nd 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You’re unironically right. However if you apply that handy rule to other areas of life, you’ll get a few -isms and -phobics thrown at you. Be careful about noticing patterns that haven’t been institutionally proven by paid “fact checkers” who are the ultimate arbitrators of what is real or not.

[–]fools_errand49 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Good question. Do things happen that never go to trial? Yes. To take it a step further, sometimes a crime was committed and tried, but the evidence was inadequate to produce a conviction. That doesn't mean we should necessarily believe untried accusations. The way our justice system is set up stems from a simple moral/ethical question. Is it better that we punish some innocents to ensure that we get all.the guilty people, or should we prioritize the rights of the innocent even if it means some guilty folks go unpunished? Our founders picked the latter which is why we have an "innocent until proven guilty" justice system. The idea that we would operate from the former supposition is a very dangerous idea that places highly abuse prone power in the hands of governments and ultimately individuals who like to lob false accusations knowing such a justice system will likely turn out the result they seek. Consider this. If we took claims at face value and then forced a person to prove their own innocence, false accusations would almost always lead to convictions considering that most false accusations are devoid of any evidence that could be used to determine the legitimacy or illegitimacy of the claim.

If you really want to understand people.and particularly men's contemporary hostility to even considering that an as of yet unproven accusation could be true, then look no further than our knee jerk culture that moves as fast as possible to pass judgement in the court of public opinion based on a de facto assumption of guilt on the part of the accused. Innocent until proven guilty is not just a judicial philosophy, but must also be embodied in the mainstream culture of a society lest a mob be allowed to exact a pound of flesh where even the mighty government cannot. A strong and reactionary counter culture movement is simply to be anticipated in light of our current cultural paradigms.

[+]max_lond0n -43 points-42 points-41 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

and when they don’t get a day in court? than what?

[–]-LordOfThighs- 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was likely due to a lack of evidence, you know there is a reason we follow innocent until proven guilty.

[–]Thomjones 40 points41 points42 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, a blind guy is gonna go rape a smelly homeless woman in her tent next to her boyfriend. He must've found her my smelling how unwashed she claimed to be. Smh. What he do, touch her face and be like ohhh I gotta fuck that? Lol

[–]squishles 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

probably one of the only things that even got em to go as far as check cctv is think wait how the fuck a blind guy able to rape people.

[–]rsa1x 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh, another isolated case, right?

[–]StudentOfTheTruth1 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"He said she has had an extremely traumatic start in life..."

Not that crap again. Every single time a woman commits some heinous crime, like this one, the first thing people do is to go on about "it's not really her fault because she had such a difficult this or that (childhood, mental state, emotional trouble, fill in the blank)". NEVER HAPPENS when it comes to a man. Woman rapes boy? "I can see she is depressed" (said a female judge in one case, reported here on Reddit). Yes, the woman had been raping that boy for 3 years (age 11 to 14), you know, because she was "depressed". So she got probation. But in another case (male teacher raped girl) a man got 43 years! 43 years, for a single occasion. Nobody gave a damn about his "hard childhood", or "emotional distress" or "depression".

"Traumatic start in life" - my a**. How about the traumatic end of life of that poor blind man that she caused? I cannot find words to express how disgusted I am with this.

[–]Mother-Key582 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And people are probably still trying everything to justify her behavior, right? Reminds me of that blind guy who got accused of “staring” at a woman in the gym. Even when he PROVED that he was legally blind, they still kicked him out. I would’ve fucking sued that gym for every cent. And made sure that “manager” never worked a day in his life ever again. EVER. I can’t believe that gym never got shut down.

[–]Explise209 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How tf would a blind person rape you, that’s pretty hard
