I think I speak for a lot of us in tech when I say that I don't want to live in a world that is hellbent on suffocating the every last bit of my potential and individuality.

And that I don't want to live my life in unending fear of being crucified for saying anything contrary to the ever-shifting ideological narrative.

I don't know how I will overcome, but whatever happens, I refuse to become the permanent subject of psychological devourment by those who haven't got their own minds in order.

You can replace every one of us Christian, Republican, Libertarian, and Classical Liberal engineers with cheap, compliant foreign labor. But I will still not allow you to make me live like this.

I would be considered a "radical leftist" on a great many issues yet I found the manifesto completely reasonable. The gist of his argument is that there are certain trends or predilections between men and women, and that eg the relative lack of women in tech is not due to discrimination. That's it. That's what this "controversy" is about.

His opinion is supported by the Israeli Kibbutz experiment and the Scandinavian countries; in both cases we see that the more choice women have, the less likely they are to gravitate to traditionally male occupations. So for example the percentage of female engineers is much higher in eg China and Iran than it is is Norway. This is arguably the achilles heel of feminism: it doesn't actually make women freer and happier, quite the opposite.

Imo the author could have "gotten away with it" (I can't believe I just wrote that) if he didn't mention IQ. It's one of the offensive truths that shall not be mentioned in polite company. The vast majority of geniuses are men, as are the vast majority of idiots. This explains why we never had a female Mozart or Bach or Tesla or Einstein. Naturally women find this idea offensive, but the reality is that the male predilection for genius doesn't preclude female geniuses. Female geniuses do exist, they're just very rare.

The author took pains to point this out -- trends among various groups should NOT be used an excuse for discrimination, because every individual is unique. But if we start off with a false premise we are going to come up with false "solutions" that will only make the problem worse.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this story is Google itself. As Julian Assange pointed out, the CIA effectively runs Google, or at least is heavily implicated in the operation. We're talking about one of the most powerful corporations in the world; Google is one of the public faces of the deep state intelligence agencies. Said intelligence agencies, which in turn are bankrolled by the great capitalists, represent the real power in the world (as opposed to eg politicians). The powers that be support feminism and "social justice." Feminists imagine that they are "fighting the man", when in fact they are just useful idiots.

My larger point is that we have an intolerance for ideas and evidence that don’t fit a certain ideology. I’m also not saying that we should restrict people to certain gender roles; I’m advocating for quite the opposite: treat people as individuals, not as just another member of their group (tribalism)

As a woman who’s worked in academia and within STEM, I didn’t find the memo offensive or sexist in the least. I found it to be a well thought out document, asking for greater tolerance for differences in opinion, and treating people as individuals instead of based on group membership.
