Riddle me this good people, how does one take umbridge at the thought of a promiscuous women being called a slut, at the same time being rather blase about women falsely accusing men of rape? I stumbled upon The Pervocracy's "10 Shades of 'False Rape Accusations," with its dimissive attitude toward false rape accusations, and decided to see if they were equally dimissive of slut shaming. Needless to say, slut shaming is a tragedy, while false rape accusations only "suck."

"...SOMEONE BEING A SLUT DOES NOT EXCUSE SHAMING, HARASSMENT, OR SEXUAL ASSAULT. In other words, if you see someone looking or acting like oh my god such a slut, you let her go on her merry way. You have no more right to abuse, mock, harass, or assault her than you do any other person. And if a slut is abused or assaulted, she did not want it and did not deserve it, and the people victimizing her are every bit as guilty as if they did it to a non-slut..."

"...Alice goes to the police and falsely accuses Bob of raping her. Bob is arrested, tried, and acquitted. In these cases, the justice system is working exactly as it should. An innocent person is found to be innocent, and the horrifying possibility of a man thrown away for a crime he didn't commit is averted. If there's an epidemic of these, then there's also an epidemic of them being appropriately dealt with. Does Bob's good name get besmirched anyway? Sometimes it does, and that sucks. But it's no excuse for not taking rape accusations seriously--you don't know they're false until after they're investigated..."
