Hi guys! I'm the author of this article and I just wanted to drop by and respond to some of the things you've said.

I'm sorry that some of you seem to have had bad experiences with self-identified feminists in the past. However, please don't read this and call it a lie. I consider myself a feminist, and this is truly how I act in all of my relationships. This is how I interpret feminism. Some women don't interpret it that way, and I guess that's their choice.

As I said in the article, I don't claim to speak for all feminists because they're not all like me. I disagree pretty strongly with many of them. That said, I'm not a perfect person either. But this list is a list of things I believe that I do well. Take it or leave it.

I'll do you one better. I married a self described feminist....

No issues here. While dating, we pretty much split the check.
This is just laughable. Because someone adheres to a belief they suddenly become more adept with technology, plumbing, carpentry etc.? My experiences : I did the taxes while she watched Maury, yelling at me every half hour or so to see if I was done with the taxes yet. Good with technology? Um, no, she wasn't. Because she didn't understand 'auto-response' emails was how I found out about her affair.
She was great in bed. Unfortunately, as a feminist, we were only allowed to have sex about once a month or so.
Granted, this was my only marriage. I'm still recovering from the emotional scarring of "You don't make enough money. God, your wife makes more than you. Doesn't that make you feel like a loser?"
Um, yes, yes you will.
Bullshit. I was told that if I were a caring husband I would buy her a Dooney or a Coach.
Well, that's good to know now, becuase I'm not ripped or athletic. Unfortunately, the person that she decided to have an affair with was.
As long as those things are Oprah, Maury, Dr. Phil, or anyone else who trips all over themselves to say how great women/mother's are and villainize men.

The most laughable comment is "Whoever does that asking should do the paying" because that's equal right? Wrong, because 99% of the asking is done by men. It's a transparent attempt to pretend the status quo is equal.

This is why I only date people into equal rights as well. These little issues are very stressful when someone believes in man holds door, pays for things, is fixer of everything, etc.

Why You Should Not Date a Feminist:

Feminists believe that even when patriarchy maims, kills, and exterminates whole generations of men to protect "women and children," that patriarchy still benefits men.
Feminists believe that women can do anything men can do, and to prove it, they don't do anything that men do. Seriously--women in construction move from classroom to "foreperson" status, with almost none of the on-the-job experience men have to suffer through. Feminists demand equal access to military and rescue positions while at the same time demanding easier/fewer tests for entrance. It's not like they'll actually have to defend anybody with their lives, or save anybody else's life, right?
Feminists have been taught by Adrienne Rich, Eve Ensler, Gloria Anzaldua, and a host of other gender-studies staples that penetrative male-female sex is inherently unequal and patriarchal. Gloria Anzaldua explicitly recommended lesbian fisting as the truest expression of feminine equality; Adrienne Rich promoted lesbianism as well in opposition to the violent, political institution of heterosexuality. You'd be better off having sex with another dude.
Feminists expect to be rich. They expect the government to pay for them to be rich. They expect the government to extract wealth from rich companies to make them rich. They say this is "equality" because many of those companies are run by men. They want to benefit from this patriarchy that apparently all of those homeless men are benefitting from as well. Just look at how well they live!
Feminists' stock in trade is subjecting you to monologues about what they perceive to be men's perceptions about women's physical flaws. It's not called the Vagina Monologues for nothing! Does it matter that men don't actually have these perceptions? Of course not.
Feminists don't buy into anything having to do with romance or sex. But when you don't buy into any of those things either, feminists will call you a deadbeat, a wuss, and tell you to "man up." Because it's not sexist when you're a feminist.
Feminists don't need you to be super ripped and athletic. But they do need you to be completely okay with any hipster thing they decide to do--never shaving anything again, unless it be their heads; wearing completely ridiculous and/or inappropriate clothing, and yelling at you if you so much as scoff at their choices of outfits; and not to mention, being utterly subservient to their views on your own fashion choices. Goodbye, comfy clothes and sneakers; hello girl-jeans and chunky plastic-frame glasses. Expect them to bring up pegging by the third date.
Feminists care about feminism. A lot. More than you, actually; a feminist will break up with you for disagreeing with her (actually happened to me), will talk shit about you to all her friends for espousing a different view than her, and will use bandwagon appeals and appeals to ridicule if you question her on her bullshit. Dating a feminist is a lot like dating the entire Republican Party--at the end of the day, you can't even tell if they are actually trying to come to some sort of point or just fuck with you.

Of course, not everybody will think feminists are like this. But put it this way--the women who are now feminists weren't this misanthropic before they discovered feminism. Shouldn't a better argument be: don't you know women who are just as caring, sexually adventurous and fun to be around who don't espouse the superiority of one gender over another? Wouldn't it be better to date those women?

Whoa. There seems to be a lot of negativity towards feminists here. In person, I've only met one self-described "feminist" and she wasn't the "crazy" kind. As far as I can tell, if the person who wrote the article considers themselves a feminist and believes in the things on the list, that's a good thing, right?

I feel like there are two major camps with feminism, the camp of "Women should have equal rights. That means the good with the bad and screw stereotypes" and the camp of "Woman power! Men should go above and beyond to get us what we want." Of course, there are other ideas and places on the scale but this is what I see the most of. To me, true feminism, and correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am), and the reason feminism was even started consists of the first camp. Then certain people wanted more so the second camp started to appear. These people may claim to be feminists but to me they are not. It seems like they are using the term to try to illicit a sympathetic response, like "Oh, females weren't given equal rights in the past. I must go beyond a normal response to make up for this." I don't know. This is just what it seems to me.

Anyway, I thought the list was great. It's what I want in a potential mate. If this is what true feminists want, sign me up. If not, then it won't bother me because I wouldn't stay in the relationship.

That's nice. So, it's plain as daylight to see that some feminists are really okay people while others are not. Pretty soon "feminist" will just become synonomous to "woman"; some are awesome, some are real scumbags who want you dead.
