Seriously guys? As much as we like everything to be all equal, there are significant biological differences between men and women. Men as an aggregate are significantly stronger and faster than women. That's just biology. Do you think that men should be allowed to compete in the women's olympics too?

And there are lots of men in these races, and the only ones that are getting a poor reception are the ones who run it just so they can run against weaker competition to get first place. Like this guy:

It's like if I can't compete in my own age group, I then go sign up for a race for 12 year olds and then complain that they don't want to give me the trophy for beating them all.

I know you say that they can just have different brackets for men and women, and that's what like 99% of the marathons out there do. Is it really so wrong to want just one race that women can run and have a chance at actually crossing the finish line first? The difference between the top male and female marathon runners is huge. That first place woman is finishing with a pack of guys. Sure she can say, well I was first for the women, but there's something to be said for actually crossing the finish line with no one in front of you.

the whole article's theme is obvious, but the commentary that got me fuming was this.

"You take out the testosterone and these events are kinder, cleaner, gentler and sweeter," says Robert Pozo, who runs a group of women's races from a website called Run Like a Diva.

Emphasis mine, presumption that the lack of those attributes are because of testosterone (aka male).

This alone is reason enough why they should have men in the race anyway, to spite the misandrists.

We all know women's sports are a joke. We don't stand in awe of female athletes. We humor them by changing the rules so they don't feel stupid or inferior to men. But history and common sense prove over and over that men will ALWAYS be smarter than women. Men will ALWAYS be stronger than women. Men will ALWAYS be more accomplished than women. This is not a boast. It's just a fact.

Men and women were never meant to compete against each other's gender functions. Only feminists trying to undermine the complementary nature of the two genders try to pit men against women.
