I don't remember where I first read that, in some book about narcissistic personality disorder, probably, but it rang true to me then and it still does now.

In the context of romantic relationships, me asserting my boundaries has been met with sadness, incredulity, and often anger. People take "I don't like that," or "this hurts my feelings," as personal attacks, more often than not.
