I mean it doesn't work consistently. But most people I know who are dating, knew each other for a while first. Sometimes years. So those "orbiters" eventually ended up becoming boyfriends and husbands.

While I'd agree it's probably not the best way to handle things(I'm certainly not patient enough for it), I'm perplexed why it seems to be treated as some sort of exercise in pure futility - when it is observably not.

Where I think the orbiter is mostly making a mistake is when the girl is WAY too hot for him. That very rarely pans out. But if they're on a similar level, I'd casually guesstimate it has a good 20% success rate over the years.

Why do you treat it this way? Am I just observing something no one else does?
