No matter how attractive you are, though there may be some "simps" or "pickmes" of either gender, most people are self-respecting enough to drop someone who's not putting in any effort.

Anyone over the age of 25 (at the oldest) knows that if someone isn't reciprocating interest and effort, it's a dead end. And they know that it's a waste of their time to keep trying to make something happen, especially with all the responsibilities they have on their plate and the demands on their time. Add to that the fact that most people have relationships that already ARE fulfilling to them (parents, siblings, cousins, nieces/nephews, friends, pets, kids if they have them), and the importance of being clear/direct about one's interest in a potential partner becomes paramount.

"Simps" and "pickmes" aside, people who have lives and who respect themselves (the people who you probably want to be dating) don't wait around and twiddle their thumbs for someone to stop playing games and get serious. They look for signs of serious interest and commitment - if it's early in getting to know each other, then commitment to getting to know each other. They can tell when you're waffling. They can tell when you don't know what you're looking for. And they're probably going to move on when they perceive this.

Bottom line, no one (of either gender) gets to play around with people free of consequences. In my opinion, both FDS and the manosphere lead their followers astray in preaching cavalier nonchalance when it comes to relationships. Real, normal people (the healthy ones, anyway) don't put up with that. They know they are worthy of respect and can tell when they're not being respected.

In my opinion, to get a "high-value" partner (of either gender) you have to be just as interested in them as they are in you, and you have to express it. It's especially important in this day and age where we all know what it's like to be ghosted, and where people are more inclined to view each other as disposable commodities.
