When I was younger, I used to be the type of dumbass that was constantly stimulus-seeking and very low neuroticism. I eventually got into poker and ended up gambling my student loans away. Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars that I was able to dig myself out of that mess I was.

I've noticed that girls were much more attracted to the type of person I used to be than the type of person I am now. It's almost a night and day contrast - I consider myself a responsible adult now which is something I would have never been able to say back then. I think this is interesting, because I think I would have made a terrible partner back then, whereas now I'm much more stable and level headed.

This may be anecdotal but it seems as though the better suited I am for them, the less they are attracted to me. Personally it doesn't matter to me because I've built my life on routine that even I find is very boring, but it prevents me from falling back into the way I used to be.

As far as I understand it, attraction is supposed to work in women's favour - as in they are attracted to guys that would make good mates. So can any of you reconcile this apparent discrepancy for me? Or is this just anecdotal?
