So about a week ago, I think someone or me posted this survey from UT Austin about rape, sexual assault, etc. However, the part that generated a lot of discussion was that the survey included "threatening to end the relationship" and "buying her things" in the category of rape.

"consensual rape", is any case of rape where consent was given, but through considerably illegitimate means. An obvious example might be like threatening to black mail.

Debate questions:

  1. How should rape by coercion, or consensual rape be defined? What kind of circumstances should be considered illegitimate means of obtaining consent?

  2. Should threatening to end a relationship if sex isn't given be illegal?

  3. Should lying about your penis size to obtain consent be illegal?

  4. Should being aggressive towards a girl (dirty talk) to obtain consent be considered coercion?
