Do you want to be loved? Speaking from experience, emotional abuse can make someone stay (at least for a while) but it won't make them love you. Most of the time, people don't stay in those relationships because of love - indeed, many don't even like or respect their abuser, let alone love them.

Rather, people stay because they feel addicted to the idea of getting validation from the abuser. They've been trying so long, and he's been keeping her on the hook, making her feel like she's constantly this close to getting it. They might feel a longing which seems like love to someone who has never experienced it... But there's a lot of resentment there, also. And of course, once people realize they'll never have the validation they desire, that's when they leave.

Additionally, most abusive relationships will become mutual eventually. r/raisedbynarcissists calls this "catching FLEAS." You can only call someone a dumb bitch so many times before they start calling you a worthless piece of shit. You can only beat a person so many times before they try to run you down with their car. You're slowly conditioning them to think this sort of behavior is acceptable... And that you can "deserve" it.

(i) Acceptable to whom? That probably depends on who you are and want to be. If you are fine with being a generally shitty human being who most people would love to set on fire if they ever found out what you really are and will never experience actual love and devotion, then sure. Why not.

(ii)Acceptable to whom? Logical on what grounds? What does 'works' mean? I suppose that one argument might be 'treat others like you like to be treated', because she can probably just as easily emasculate you with one sentence as you can harm her. Especially if your responses to problems are handled with all of the finesse and care of a silverback gorilla that's just been kicked in the beans.

Another reason is, if you have children together, living like that is either going to make them think this behavior is acceptable, or is going to produce jewels like me! That being, children who would enjoy watching you slowly bleed out while they tell you every reason that you are unworthy to take any more breaths.

(iii) yes. Verbal abuse is using your words to make someone feel like this for the sake of making them feel like shit or to get your way. Manipulation often includes verbal abuse in order to get your way or make her feel a certain way, but can actually go any possible direction. You can manipulate someone into positive behaviors and feelings just as well as you can negative ones, without actually causing harm at all, even momentarily. But few people are cognizant of that, much less actually capable of doing it right.

Acceptable behavior is that in which you don't go causing another person grief just because it makes you happy. Seems pretty cut and dry.

It's not appropriate to abuse anyone. In any way. Abuse is pretty simple to describe. It's conduct that does harm. Telling someone over and over they're worthless is clear abuse. Making them think that you're all they'll ever have is abusive. Trying to isolate them from other people to maintain control over them us abusive. All are hallmarks of an abusive relationship.

It doesn't matter if it 'works'. You can brainwash someone to make them do what you want if you have no scruples. But it doesn't make it right. Why would you think that is the right way to deal with people?

Personally, I look at it this way. Would you want someone to do that to you? If not, don't do it to other people. That's my general rule for 'good' conduct. If you would never want to experience it, what right have you to force that experience on someone else?

I am sure that the battered wife syndrome exists, but one also needs to factor in the reality of women being attracted to dark triad alphas.

As to your questions:

This isn't solely about what works because this directly impinges on my identity as a man. This is also about my personal values with which I was raised, my sense of personal honor, and the fact that I am a beta and a tradcon.

The disgusting reality of the female nature and my outmoded instincts are why I became an RP after all.

Relationships have to be brutally honest and comforting (for some, that is a contradiction). If you can't relax around your wife and have to use the dread game to keep her in line, what is the point?

But the reality is that women are devoid of a sense of honor, RP is right and my preferences are wrong. A wife is never really family, ironic as that is.
