For those with cultural backgrounds from first world countries, it does not appear to be due a Madonna/Whore complex.

They will jump and and down and stomp their feet and say this isn't true. But go onany sub where men relay their experiences, and see the cognitive process that takes place oftentimes. They have this anxious, obsessive limerence for women they have not yet "conquered", and then once they fuck the chick, and things level out, they see the girl more clearly. Sometimes, these girls are, according to them, attractive and likable, but they interpret this drop of feelings to something being wrong with her.

Just like having sex fast tracks a woman toward the chemical process we can love, or your post calls "oneitis", anticipating sex does to men.

Limerence is another term describing the same phenonemon as one-itis.

Having experienced it from both sides, be careful what you wish for. Being the on the receiving end of obsessive "love" is almost as bad as experiencing it yourself.

oneitis/limerence happens when men do not have an abundance of other options. a girl comes along and for whatever reason triggers something in deep parts of the guy's brain that tells him that he really needs to mate with this girl because she might be his only chance to reproduce. it's either her or nothing. that instinctive drive to reproduce ASAP becomes more important than anything else, and causes the obsessive focus on that girl.

a more successful man who has lots of options and frequent opportunities to have sex is unlikely to develop oneitis. there's no reason for him to relentlessly pursue one particular girl trying to make it work when there are lots of other girls readily available.

there are some similarities to women who have become "alpha widows" but it's not exactly the same. an alpha widow is a woman who has some kind of relationship or interaction with a very high-SMV male and then is never able to get over him because all of the subsequent men she meets don't match up to him (or her memories of his SMV, which might not be 100% accurate).

TRP strenuously avoids catching oneitis, and recognizes alpha widows as a something that happens occasionally to high value men.

Oneitis is a curious axiom of TRP

It's actually a fair bit older than TRP. Also, if anything, Oneitis should be the manosphere concept that should be beyond reproach because it's so blindingly obvious that it exists (and that it usually is destructive) that no bluepiller should have the galls to argue otherwise.
