I’d say ambition, gumption, confidence, competitiveness, stoicism would be considered “masculine” in western society.

But I dont really find words like “masculine” any more indicative of what to expect from a person of either gender. Women can also be competitive, aggressive, stoic and ect and it wouldn’t make her any less of a woman. She’d just be considered “masculine” in a lot of circles.

Vice versa, men can also be compassionate, gentle, generous, organized, social and ect, and the while it wouldn’t be considered “masculine”, it doesn’t mean he’s less of a man.

Cultures that don’t require women to adhere as much to femininity (like say… Isreal i guess?) don’t tend to have women act as feminine. And cultures that raise men to be socially sensitive (like a lot of eastern cultures, where there’s more pressure to be considerate of the people around you), the men have no difficulty being socially sensitive

I was 9 y/o when I disliked all the men around me!

I'm a man from the balkans, so we aren't short of "manly men".

Something seemingly insignificant happened to me and 9 y/o that I think turned into a feminist without knowing about feminism.

I was looking for my father around town and I found him playing dominos at a tavern (normal). He was shouting and swearing which made me giggle because be would never swear around me. As I get closer I see he's playing with other men and boys my age

I've never had such a slow-motion experience in my life. I thought of all those men as extremely pathetic. I did know a lot of acquaintances/friends (around my age) that boasted about being friends with men but never seen it,

Then I remember looking around at all the men I knew and they all looked pathetic!

I don't think there's any trait that I man can have that a woman can't.

I always knew my mom, my sister, and every other woman was oppressed (but that was nature, survival of the fittest crap) so they were trapped because they were women.

I could not wrap my head around the reason why the men around me looked trapped.

Now I know better but the first thing I thought had to be manly traits would be self-reliant, resilient, independently-minded, and willing to take the path less traveled. But, of course, it's not the case, since we are all the same - humans.

Even today I see the same thing. When they try to go against feminists they might act as though they are against terrible work but honestly, what would happen if all men protested "we can't work it terrible conditions"? Instead of taking pride in the fact that your boss is treating you like a horse, or instead of using your struggle to try and score pointless points against women, why not protest?

Why not say "if being a man means working dangerous jobs and being scared of doctors, I don't want to be a man", your gym gains, and your dick will not fall off.

Of course, we humans, can't do that (for reasons beyond my comprehension). But whoever told us working dangerous jobs is manly, or that only "real" men can do those jobs and that only "real" men would take pride in those jobs, tricked us.

Openness, assertiveness, and drive. While not necessarily masculine, I like “I like you, and I’d like to see where this goes, and I have my own life and goals too” over the game playing and “i had to wait three days to call him even tho I been thinking about him and my future?! I dunno, I’m gonna go on a journey with my shakras to discover myself and then work on a career” You know?

I’d say traits associated with dominance. Dominance is something typically associated with masculinity.

Backbone.

Stand by for what you believe in, even it if means becoming a martyr. Won't get anywhere in life if you're being pushed around or sacrifice your responsibility to please others. That goes for consequences too. If you choose to go down a path and it doesn't work out, no one else to blame but yourself. More importantly it means you now have to double down cause no one's coming for you.
