What is it about the straight up cash that bothers so many guys? I mean guys are ok getting sex for favors which is prostitution but when we talk about taking out their wallets it's a huge hell no. Is it ego?

I'm not a man so I may be way off base here, but my guess is that it has to do with being in a position of power. A woman relying on you for her livelihood or a roof over her head is at your mercy more than a woman you're paying for a service is. The prostitute can turn you away; you're still doing things mostly on her terms. That's not necessarily true of the other scenarios you listed.

Put another way: It's the difference between paying FOR sex and being paid WITH sex.

To answer your question, it probably has something to do with how they want be perceived.

If a guy produces music, and women love him for it, he may think, "I love music, and they love what I make. Since what I make is an expression of myself, and she likes this expression, she therefore like me."

Not many people attach such a deep rooted identity thing to money. Not many think "I am money. Money is my heart, and since she accepted money for sex, she must like me".

Tl;dr - they like the idea of women liking them for who they are.

I think they're probably just virtue signalling. Talking about the nice whore you banged yesterday isn't a good subject for a Thanksgiving dinner with your family. Your mom doesn't want to hear that shit.

Could also be that they think the prostitute is nastier than the normal girl who gets her car fixed at the mechanic. Like a prostitute who fucks a lot of dudes is nasty; a prostitute who fucks only one dude (=kept mistress) is hot.

Yet paying them directly has a huge stigma against it.

Perhaps it reminds men more directly that their resources and time are being exchanged for sex, as opposed to simply exercising a skill which he may enjoy doing to some degree anyways.

You could boil down most sexual relations to a form of prostitution really. We just had yesterday the prostitution holiday as in guys buying shit loads of expensive shit for girls because they know they'll get laid.

But a house with a girl? You're getting laid. Take her to dinner? Laid. Cook for her? Laid. Fix her car? Laid etc etc.

If any man out there doesn't realize sex even with SOs is a transaction of your effort/cash for sex then I'd question what planet you're living on. Most sex is transactional, it's the man's time or effort or resources in exchange for pussy.

So to me the simple act of cash for sex is just cutting the crap. I want sex you want stuff so how about we cut the fancy dates and shit and just get to the barebones. I have no problem with prostitution and visiting an escort now and again on the back of that. Though I prefer getting laid without doing so.

The reason I think it's frowned upon is that people like their delusions and prostitution removes that. Women like to think guys buy them things because they are sweet and want to treat them well, guys like to think the girl is sleeping with them for what he is as a person etc.

Now I can take my cynical hat off haha.

Interesting question. I had no idea it was common for men to have this kind of double standard. Cash us just a tool to facilitate a transaction between two people who can't barter for whatever reason.

The only important distinction is that a prostitute can be a total stranger, but a landlord or dealer usually has a preexisting relationship of some kind with the woman.

My guess is they are lying to themselves, saying that the blowjob is something more than what they'd get from a hooker.

There is nothing inherently wrong with prostitution (morals aside), and I see no reason why it shouldn't be legalized in the US with proper regulation.

The reason why so many guys are opposed to the idea is because getting a girl into bed is the ultimate display of masculinity and is emotionally validating. Paying a woman outright for sex short circuits that whole process.

Obviously it is the same thing, as you describe. But many guys are emotional in regards to their sexuality, moreso than other areas.

I love me some hookers man, no shaming from me. The only "shaming" of the cash transaction that I have observed is if that is the ONLY way you can get laid. As in not only are you unable to get laid by conventional means, but your only leverage (no weed no car skills etc) is cold hard cash. I can understand that criticism.

In countries where its more commonplace, this becomes less true.

But I feel this statement is fine, unless its being used as a reason to keep/make prostitution illegal. Then it would be a huge lack of empathy for all involved.

Given the moral content of an average woman's character today, I would say that prostitutes are far more honest.

I have never used one for fear of diseases, and because it would support a major crime industry (human trafficking). However, I have nothing against prostitutes plying their trade. Traditional marriage has been killed by feminism anyways, so the traditional taboos against them do not make much sense.

That said, you are always paying for sex (going beyond the examples you picked). A wife gets the payout (besides regularly draining your money on her trinkets, clothes, shoes, etc.) during a divorce rape, or after when she prematurely switches off your life support when you are old and can't help yourself. A prostitute gets paid by the night.

As I read somewhere, you don't pay the hooker for the sex. You pay her to leave.

It is funny that all these guys are still beta males who think of themselves so poorly that they have to give something to a woman so she will want to have sex with them. That's just going to make the pussy that much more dry TBH.

I'd argue psychologically, doing that is roughly as bad as straight up paying. Super negative reinforcement even if you don't totally think you NEED to pay chicks in some way.

Tbh, I've only gotten negative reactions (even to discussing the topic abstractly, not in specifics of having done it or planning to) from women. Obviously I've never tried discussing it with very visibly conservative guys, although most of those I know are family, so that would be double strange.

But among men from my peer group there isn't much stigma, and it's come up once or twice on a drinking night out or similar. I think in part this is because a lot of us have worked overseas, or worked jobs with large amounts of travel, do a lot conferences, etc. These are all scenarios that encourage it (countries where it's legal, physical distance from any spouse/ltr or family that might catch you, and simply the loneliness of being alone somewhere unfamiliar).

One guy (friend of a friend so I didn't know him too well) said that he basically used them exclusively now because it was just easier. He was making the sort of money where he could easily get a trophy wife I'm sure, but for that same reason preferred focusing on work or his own hobbies in his free time, rather than letting an LTR eat up his whole life.

I don't know that I'd agree he's not giving up too much, but I can see the appeal there.

I know and I agree. The view is totally idiotic and hypocritical. I have observed the same things.

What I find especially amusing is how certain women not only look down on sex workers have this visceral hatred towards them and their clients. Yet some of these same exact women trade sex for money, trips, gifts and / or other resources.

I for one do not hate sex workers and I believe they have the right to have sex with whoever they want (provided the other person is a consenting adult.) In fact I respect the sex worker far more than the "normal" girl who is "dating" some guy because he has a car, buys her stuff or provides some other material resource. In truth they are both sex workers but the sugar baby, escort, stripper or whatever is being honest and upfront about the transaction.
