I find the idea that men all their lives wanting to spin the hottest, youngest plates laughable because I exclusively date and associate with middle aged men and find NONE that ascribe to this idea. Most will admit to having that concept in youth and look back at it with laughter.

I was asking my current partner (47, who is quite the "alfalfa" in youth and now in his prime) what are the most important qualities he looks for now in order of importance:

  • ability to give high levels of affection and emotional intimacy.
  • a solid ethical system (loyal, compassionate, honest, respectfulness, etc.)
  • compatible goals/hobbies so that a relationship is even possible
  • coming in FOURTH place was looks. When I asked him what kind of looks/superficial qualities he looked for: no obesity yet ample curves, cute face, well taken care of hair. Preferences like long legs, ample ass, brunette, etc are NOT vital but are an appreciated bonus.

What about you folks? What do the middle aged men in your life say?
