I totally understand where she is coming from. Sometimes when I go fishing it takes me forever to decide what gear to bring. I mean, last time I went down to the river I had my Sage X with the Perfect, so I can't take that this week. But if I take my Method, my dad might as well and that would just be awful to be fishing with the same rod. So I really only have 2 choices left, the really nice looking Winston two hander or the old Sage VPS 9wt. I mean the Winston is a work of art, but the Sage is really retro and that in itself makes it pretty fucking cool. I mean all the rods are really awesome, but I couldn't use the same one so often, that's just too boring. Then I have to sort out what reels to bring, what flies to bring?! If I'm going to wear a hat or a toque!?!?! Damn society for making me so fickle.

Except you can flip this so easily. They have the privilege of it being socially acceptable to wear a much wider variety of clothing to formal events. Men basically just wear suits, and that's it. Men's formal attire tends to make us all blend in and interchangeable, whereas women's is designed to make them stand out. That's partly why they want to wear something different every time; they want to make new, lasting impressions.
