When I was a stupid teenager I got busted for breaking a lightbulb on a pole at the end of someone’s driveway. I did go and apologize to the owner. I received 200 community hours, and a $500 fine.

I performed my community hours at a drug rehabilitation clinic. While there I met a girl a year older than me. She got drunk and stole a car, crashed into another car, then fought with the police. She got 50 hours of community service and no fine from the same judge.

I wasn’t pissed at all.

The same evidence or lack thereof that convicts or frees the man is what should be used to determine if it was a false accusation. The problem is in too many cases there is zero evidence other than her word against his.

I can break my own window, hide my own wallet, and accuse my neighbour's kid of robbing me. Within hours I'll be told there's not enough evidence. But if my wife says the kid walked through the open back door and tried to force himself on her that shit could drag on for months or years with an actual possibility of the kid going to jail even though there's zero evidence.

A "false accusation" does not mean it's a lie. A person can be raped for real and then mistakenly blame the wrong person. That counts as a false accusation. The problem is too many people refuse to accept the evidence that proves they blamed the wrong guy and continue treating him like a rapist for the rest of his life because they automatically believe women in spite of a lack of evidence or evidence to the contrary.

I guess the one argument I can think of that might reduce false rape imprisoments by giving a longer sentence for making a false accusation and later recanting it is that it could be used as a deterrent. However, when you look at places like Iran, where people are routinely executed for smuggling, selling, or possessing drugs with intent to sell, you realize they still have the highest heroin using populace in the world at over 25 percent of their population.. And in China where people are condemned to death for manufacturing and trafficking controlled and illegal substances they are still the world's largest producer of synthetic drugs BY FAR. When you look at statistics like this, it's really difficult to push the deterrent argument. Also anything on here even hinting at taking a woman's side is going to get down voted, just a heads up.

The scenario we find ourselves in though, is as such: currently, courts aren't lessening sentencing for false accusations. They also aren't requiring evidence to convict. Getting convicted on a false rape accusations literally will ruin your life. You'll serve time which sucks, run the risk of getting raped yourself while in jail, you're a convicted felon and a sex offender, future employers will look at this, you'll more than likely be fired from your current job, imprisonment is shown to have negative psychological effects on inmates, you can potentially lose your house while in prison. If you're raped and come out, you get a huge amount of support. Everyone talks about how brave you are for coming forward. If you're falsely accused of rape and are convicted, no one will support you. Hell even if they come clean later there are people who won't get with the program and will still judge you or at least look at you in a different light. Yeah, sounds worse to me. I absolutely mean what I said, and I'm not living on some ivory tower. So, so many of the women that have been important to me in life are survivors of rape. I've been intimately violated before by a bisexual dude -- not rape but certainly out of my control and 100% against my will.

How could you NOT choose a few minutes of disgust and violation over being locked in a cage away from those you love for years and becoming a boogeyman for the rest of your life?

Rape is NOT the worst crime imaginable. Stop buying into that ridiculous narrative. It's violence and it's awful, but it's nothing compared to extended false imprisonment.

Edit: One more... I can't think of a worse feeling than not being able to provide for my family. Folks that get thrown in jail for rape likely won't have a family waiting for them when they get out and, if they do, they will not be able to find reasonable gainful employment to support them.

Rapists become second class citizen. Worse than that, they become untouchables.

As much as I hate false accusations and wish there were equally as punishable as actual rape we tend to ignore one thing and one huge issue.

That one thing is, how can we prove that it is a false accusation and not an actual rape? Do you guys get where I am getting at?

Say a woman or man gets raped and there is absolutely no proof it happened. The rapist could say the women is falsely accusing him/her of rape. The rapist gets off free while the innocent victim goes to jail simply because there is no proof.

I hope I made my point clear. I am by no means supporting false accusations or false accusers. I have actually had two false MeToo complaints against me.

With that being said, what do you guys pose as an alternate solution?

It really looks like she is looking up at the judge rather than rolling her eyes at the sentence. She's undoubtedly an awful person, we don't have to make further things up.
