YAY!!

I am so happy that this challenge is happening! Ladies, I tried this last year here and there at the suggestion of other members, just to feel more girly throughout the day. The aim here is to feel YOUR HOTTEST every day. So yes, to the NINES as you can reach.

If your NINES is full face of makeup and sexy within reason dresses while at work, go for it. If your NINES is curling your hair and putting on some lipstick and heels while picking up the kiddies from school, then go HAM!! If you're a SAHW and your goal is to wear hot lacy things or yoga pants for hubby when he gets home, then GIRL DO YOU!

You want to look your absolute best, no excuses.

I've been really looking forward to this. My goals for this week are to do a few big things to increase my SMV overall as well as the little things everyday to maximize what I'm working with.

As far as big things go, I'm getting Brazilian and eyebrows waxed later this week, right now I'm all natural and so it will be a big improvement! I'm also going to read /u/Queenbee126 's thread on Hair So Shiny It Will Blind A Bitch. I don't know if I will get my shit together quick enough to apply it this week, but I will definitely put that into motion.

For the little things, full face of make up: for me that pretty much means putting my bronzer back into rotation and more days of red lip stick.

Heels every day this week, except on the walk to and from work.

And dressing more sexy as opposed to my usual cute or edgy looks. Emphasis on sensual colors, blacks and reds, and other jewel tones (which look great this time of year anyway). And either show off legs or cleavage everyday.

Oh and thongs every day!

I'm going to concentrate on days i'm not at work, because my uniform is unflattering and includes flat shoes 😞

OK, so my plan is:

Do eye makeup and hair while daughter eats breakfast (which takes ages), to avoid interruptions

Dress really nice rather than casual when on mommy days.

I might set out my outfits the previous day to avoid just grabbing something comfy, otherwise I'll feel rushed and it won't be put together properly.

Ooh, I like this challenge! I tend to wear gym clothes around the house. J will be excited to see my peter pan collars again.

So I'll try my usual makeup (bb cream, concealer, eyebrows, eyeshadow, mascara, light blush), but play up making my eyes look larger.

My hair isn't the kind of hair you do much with, but I'll try to add some volume and maybe keep my bangs down instead of brushing them out of my face all day. I need to break that habit anyway!

For outfits... Cute peter pan collar + sweater + flared skirt. Maybe I'll try to find a pair of tights? It's still a bit too warm to really wear tights, and I don't own any socks but gym socks. Any suggestions would be welcome! (I don't wear pants in public outside of the gym)

Flats for shoes because I only own one pair of heels and they're on their way out. But I have cute flats w/ a bow on them, and my oxford-style flats. So I'll just mix it up.

One thing... I tend to not get all gussied up unless I'm around J, since he's the only person I feel the desire to be attractive for. I think it's going to be hard to break that unease. I don't like receiving attention from strangers, being looked at, etc. If any of you can offer any suggestions on how to avoid feeling gross, I'd love to hear them.

This is such a great challenge! I usually only see the same 20-odd people every day (and they're all women) since my office is in the middle of nowhere, and I don't live with my SO, so it's way too easy to be like, "Nah, doesn't matter if I look blah today." I did that yesterday and I FELT blah all day! Ugh! This will definitely get my rear in gear!

And I know I always feel better in general when I look nice, regardless of who sees me. My hope is that this challenge will give me the kick in the pants I need to make it a priority every day!

I'm in! Although this also means I'll need to step up my wardrobe... Does anyone have any thoughts on how this challenge applies to hanging out at home? I mean, sometimes it's hard to figure out what to wear when my husband and I are at home in the evenings. I don't want to be a schlub in sweatpants but I also feel silly wearing dressy clothes at those times.

Day 1:

Makeup: I wore lipstick & false lashes! The lashes took like 5 minutes to put on LOL but I bought a special lash kit (on sale! WOOP) that came with a tool, so I think that helped.

Hair: My hair oil got into my roots while I was sleeping so it was limp. I didn't have enough time to wash it so I made lemonade out of lemons and did a super "shiny" sleek side ponytail!

Outfit: I had been planning on wearing a dress but an unexpected cold front came in so I settled for black leggings, a cardigan and leopard print flats.

Extra: While I was running errands, a gust of wind hit my straight from the side and blew off half of my lash off my eye; it was hanging down into my eyeball LMAO! Ah, the perils of being a glamazon woman.

Day 2: (this day was entirely spent at home, studying and doing homework)

Makeup: I put on mascara, brow gel and lip stain but kept the rest of my skin clean.

Hair: Since I wasn't going out in public, I used this time at home to experiment with a new hairstyle I never tried before. This was a good idea, I was able to work out the complicated links of a new hair style without having a time limit/needing to go somewhere.

Outfit: Leggings, a slouchy sweater and fuzzy socks. Usually I just wear a onesie but for the SMV challenge, I dressed up a bit LOL.

I've been simultaneously dreading this and planning hard cause I love challenges. That being said, I am using this challenge to come or of my comfort zone one act at a time. Here is what I'm going to do.

So that means a different new do each day is required and figuring out what stylish outfit to wear. Today Tho....red lips eeeekkk

EDIT: I also wanna update my power of yes challenge. So here is what is new in my life. LOL. XBOX in the bedroom. We are now playing Diablo 3 on it. YAY. I made a pot roast that was very successful. Even leftover was a big hit. My pasta is also now his favorite :D. Also, went to target at like 8pm to pick up something. That garnered me a "we can do whatever you want to tonight" the next day. Not that my SO never says that but when I'm more easy going he is more easy going. I just know it and feel it. I am def going to keep this up plus also the listening more. Both have really made the quality of our days skyrocket.

Alright, I am just now seeing this post and already at work for the day, but I will get on it for tomorrow!

I'm one of those people who absolutely hates waking up in the morning (especially this time of year when it's so warm in bed with him but so cold out of it) so my trick is to shower and do my hair at night - then, in the morning, I just have to touch it up with the flatiron. That saves me SO much time, then all I have to do is brush my teeth, get dressed, put on makeup, feed the dogs, grab my bag, say bye and go (I have to leave before he has to get out of bed).

I also decide what I'm going to wear the night before so I don't waste any time being indecisive in the morning. All in all with my method, I can go from bed to out the door in 30 minutes.

My full face of makeup isn't a full face. Also heels are no good for a student. Otherwise I would do this if I was graduated.

So, lunchtime on day 1, I've done ok. I had limited time before work so prioritised makeup over hair and didn't straighten, I went with a half-up do and makeup and was ok for time. It helped me feel a bit more confident because we've got senior staff in today, which is nice.

When I get home I'm going to wear a cute top and jeans, so we'll see what the reaction is when hubs gets home. Planning last night was actually quite fun.

Edit: The look was good, I went a bit darker on lipstick than normal and outfit showed my figure great, but then had a bad afternoon so I felt too sad to be sexy, and I didn't reapply eye makeup and cuddled up in one of hub's jumpers so he didn't really see my outfit underneath til bedtime.

Day 2, I did eye makeup and new lipstick again, but just scraped hair back until my daughter was at her playdate and have washed it properly after I got some chores done. Outfit is kilt skirt, thick black tights and a ribbed jumper. I wore ankle boots into town and felt a bit overdressed and self-conscious, but feel quite good about myself, and sent hubs a selfie :D

Wow, this is such a great challenge, I can't believe I missed the first few days! I'm gonna start now, and already have started in a few ways.

I recently started a new job (less than a month ago) and I've been making an effort to wear make up everyday. Not a full face, but definitely playing up my beautiful eyes and making an effort to look polished. There is a uniform involved, but I've been able to make it more fun with accessories.

Something I really want to focus on for myself here is that we all have different ideas of what to the NINES is and make an effort to really explore what that means to me. Part of the reason my husband loves me is because I march to the beat of my own heart and the confidence I have as a result.

OK, weekend updates:

Saturday I was visiting my mom and husband was busy doing home stuff, so I went for quite a simple outfit of jeans, a lace-panel top and a cardigan, and trainers (because i was indoors and would take them off anyway). But, I did take the time to try and wave my hair and do full makeup, and my mom complemented the hair - hubs really likes a slight wave but I find it hard to do without it either falling our or going frizzy, so this was practice for trying that more!

Saturday night was a nice reaction, when I got back hubs picked me up and twirled me (squealing!) and said how lovely I looked. I kind of expected him to just be flopped on the sofa after all the work, so that reaction was great!

Sunday I joined hubs for church and went with a dark blue dress and tights. Bit chilly, tbh, especially hands and feet, maybe need to get some thicker tights or wear gloves next time. Hair was a bit unruly and i needed to get daughter ready so loosely tied it back. I did eye makeup, but I went for only tinted lipbalm instead of lipstick.

Also, people give husband babies to hold at church. Babies like him so much! Was broody and conflicted all afternoon :(

Today I am back in uniform, but am picking hubs up from train later, so I will try to look nice. Under 20 layers, brr!

FIELD REPORT:

So I wear makeup pretty often but last week I was traveling a LOT. So despite fatigue and jet lag, I got to my hotel for an interview NOT looking great. but I tried with earrings and lipstick and just keeping my hair nice.

A nice man carried my luggage into the hotel! "Let me get that for you!" Yay!!

Moral: If I was a bitch and a grump and didn't care, he may responded to my energy in kind and not have helped. Small things like that are a big deal! And the gesture was nice enough to increase my spirits!

I find it difficult to reconcile the way I WANT to dress with how I'm SUPPOSED to dress. I love really feminine dresses and love wearing corsets, however as a contractual teacher it's not the best to be wearing a corset. However I did decide to wear one of my "medieval" looking dresses from Holy Clothing and had constant comments from all my young girls that I looked like a princess and they wanted to hold my skirts for me! (Little handmaids - cute!) I definitely got more stares. The dress was the only thing I changed, still had my nice everyday jewellery and had my long hair in a "Katniss" braid and minimal makeup. I think I will try to do this more often. I mean I may as well be myself, and may attracted a suitable SO which is the point yes?
