I’ve been fertility tracking w Basel Body Temp and using condoms on fertile days. Takes discipline and knowing your body. Not for everyone but I don’t want any synthetic hormones in my body.

You have to track your temperature, your mucus consistency, and the position of your cervix every day.

No shots. No pills. No implants. No messing with my hormones. And not only do I know my body, my husband has learned things as well about my reproductive cycle.

We just used condoms before I got pregnant, I didn't want any artifical hormones in my body after they made me extremely sick in the past. But I've heard great things about the fertility awareness method. It involves using a combination of basal body temperature, cervical position and texture, and cervical mucus all together. The book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" tells you everything you'd need to know about it! I used those techniques to get pregnant actually, they were more reliable than ovulation kits! :)

Loved Nuvaring before kids. Made my periods light. Now have tubes tied and recently got mirena for other issues besides birth control. So far so good.

Nuvaring gave me bladder problems that are just now going away after three years. Only my urologist would acknowledge the correlation. It was so painful and frustrating. My only luck was with an IUD, Mirena, which was wonderful and mostly got rid of my periods. Sadly, you can't get these unless you plan to keep them for awhile, so when we do have kids, we'll likely use fertility tracking between pregnancies.

I was on The Pill for many years until it gave me a tumor in my liver.

My husband had a vasectomy years ago.

We choose not to have children for many reasons including medical concerns.

I had a mirena iud for years, loved it and will try again after children. The low dose hormones didn't mess around with my brain like the pill did, and it was very reliable. I imagine it's similar to Nuvaring in terms of localized hormones.

For the last year or so we've been doing fertility awareness (NFP but with condoms on fertile days instead of abstaining like NFP), which was good for us but I don't think is reliable enough for a lot of people. A failure wouldn't have been a problem for us, but if it would, I'd say wear condoms too. It is easy to get wrong if you're not very diligent, and you're still left with a bunch of fertile days you have to avoid or wear condoms.

Along with that vintagegirlgame wrote you can also use an app to track your cycle so that you can become familiar with your ovulation window. Kindara is a good app for this. I have been using fertility awareness method as a form of birth control for 7 months now. I’m so happy to not be taking a pill and I’m so happy that I don’t have a foreign object inside me.
