Does anyone practice witchcraft/wicca?

I don't, but I do pay attention to the seasons/moon cycles to an almost pagan extent. I celebrate equinoxes and solstices and enjoy being in touch with that part of myself that responds to cycles and nature.

I’ve been interested in witchcraft for about 15 years, and actively practicing for about 3 years of that time. I definitely do think it helped be connect with various aspects of RPW.

I wouldn’t say I’m Wiccan, more of an eclectic pagan and witch, but I agree with a lot of its beliefs in the duality of nature- including that male and female energies are separate but equal. That doesn’t mean that they’re the same, but that they each have their own strengths, talents, and attributes. Women can be strong, but they’re also the nurturers and healers and growers. Men have the attributes of hunters, warriors, and protectors. Of course there’s certain deities (If you follow deity- you don’t have to) that have attributes more often given to a different gender (lookin at you Artemis), but that’s also down to personal belief systems and the like. There’s no assigned texts, so a lot is open to interpretation.

I guess the main way, for me at least, that the two (witchcraft/paganism, RPW) connect for me is that my beliefs align with the idea that the relationship between men and women makes sense- it’s an expression of the cooperation and duality that exists all over the planet and our universe. Sex is powerful and magical- casual sex diminishes its importance. Children are important. Finding a strong “captain” is important because strong men resemble the male divine. Being a good caretaker, of a family or my husband, is incredibly important to me because it allows me to express my tie to the feminine divine.

There are some things that don’t jive though. I don’t believe you have to be particularly feminine in appearance to be a great feminine presence. It’s all about action. There’s a few other things I’ve seen in this sub that I disagree with, but I don’t really pay them mind so I can’t think of any other examples atm.

Got on my throwaway for this one 🤓 something about people finding out I follow RPW scares me- even though I don’t hide my religious beliefs from anyone... ha

I've been using tarot for a little while, if that counts? I was also wondering if this is conducive to or counter to a RP mindset. It does seem (to me) to be about female power.

I'm not a practitioner but am very familiar with Wicca through a good friend whose parents were actually the founders of one of the 'traditions' within it. Yes, I absolutely feel that Wicca can be compatible with RPW principles. If my recollection is right, Wicca focuses heavily on 'gender' (in the metaphysical sense) and balancing energetic polarities within oneself and those inherent to the natural world. It embraces and honors all aspects -- light and dark, young and old -- of both the god and goddess, and holds a place of reverence for each.

I grew up with a couple of Wiccan girls, and their single mothers were Wiccan too (two separate family’s but close friends) and the mothers treated it more like a duality- they had respect for the masculine nature and despite definitely not being RPW, they seemed to understand the separate strengths and benefits of each gender and practiced in a way that related to that.

The daughters, my childhood friends, tended to be a bit more feminine focused and I think that actually led them to be more BP and feminist, because they chose to follow their faith towards the “divine feminine” to the point of ignoring the duality. Wicca for them was a feminist devotion.

So basically, I think it’s all in how you practice. I would consider myself bordering on pagan in many ways, and I focus on the duality of all things-which includes respecting the masculine nature of things. I definitely don’t think it’s mutually exclusive to RPW theory!

We're pagan/Asatru. Mostly we don't do much about it but tell the stories and sing songs, but I find reading runes to be helpful. It's similar to tarot in that it helps you uncover your own subconscious wishes and thoughts. Also the Gods can be great examples of both positive and negative aspects of their sex.

I find identifying explicitly as a "witch" helps my husband make space for uniquely feminine energy in our home. It also makes it easier for him to understand why I am active in the church where I grew up (may seem counterintuitive, but it works for us)

My experience is that its balanced between male-female polarity or even female led, so I don't think it correlates with RPW. The feminine power emphasis seems to be You Go Girl Grllpower. But if you are a solitary then you can do it your own way.
