RPW friendly career ideas?

I suggest community college with an Associate Degree that focus in a technical field that pays in the 30K-40K range for starting salary. I did it that route and definitely never regret it. I finished high school at 18 and completed my Associates by 20 made 38K with benefits right away. No debt! No stress and I work from home.

Check online for nearby community college program and do some research to see the supply and demand in your area. Just make sure it’s a program in a specific field and not like... Associate in Biology. That’s too vague.

If you want more, message me directly. I’m in a good field where many companies are starting to send employees home for work and the salary is somewhere between 35K-45K. I’ve saved so, so much money. Now, I’m not crazy passionate about my job and it doesn’t fulfill me but I can tell you I don’t hate it because it allows me to focus on my family and my personal hobbies like fitness and health.

Become an Instructional Aid in a public school. The pay is okay and the hours are great. Requirements vary by state. Some you need college, others you just need to pass a test.

It's a low stress and fun career from what I've seen.

hmmm. it depends a lot on YOUR personal interests. you mentioned you're a creative, artsy person and there are fields you can use that and not go totally broke, although you should be aware that any job can be stressful. but the bottom line is: it really depends on you and your personality plus your overall interests.

Teacher or nurse!

Always in demand, can work literally anywhere, well paying enough to support yourself, but not so well paying that you’ll feel guilty giving up the money when you start a family.

Also lots of great stuff to learn that will help when you become a mom!

Programming? If you are good at it you can do it from home or part time. Not really stressful, and quite engaging.

I’m a massage therapist :). Upside is you get lots of creative, artsy types. Downside is you don’t often get benefits. It works for me though. :)

Nursing has been an awesome career for me. Sure, it’s stressful, and yes, you have to interact and be nice to your patients. Many hospitals have a weekend program-I work daylight shifts only, every Sat and Sun, and get a full time salary (60K) working a mere 2 days a week. Many of my coworkers do not have a Bachelor’s degree and it’s currently not required. It’s also great knowledge to have as parents age, kids get sick, elderly neighbors have questions about their medication, etc. I get to be home with my kids M-F and have dinner on the table when my husband gets home from his 9-5.

Birthing and raising twin boys is incredibly more stressful IMO.

Well have several jobs? Why not, spread yourself out. I do tutoring and nannying, a little bit of consulting on the side and still have some days just homemaking. I’m always waking up to do something different everyday, very refreshing!

Nursing! Two years. Minimal debt. Get your BSN paid for while you work with your ASN. So many fields and you can make ~60k/year, sometimes more. You could even work in education if you wanted and less clinical :)

Culinary arts might be a good option. Or you could go into childcare - some nannies make pretty good money, and it's more creative than most people think.

Well, a part time job or work-from-home thing is often a good idea if you can marry a man who makes enough money that you can spend most of the day doing whatever you want. Seriously, though, the problem you have with your current job will be present in pretty much any job. And a career is going to exacerbate it. Try not to have your cake and eat it. Instead, choose which cake you want in life and then decide whether or not to have it or to eat it.

I think it really depends on your interests. Almost any career can be made RPW friendly. I’m currently a teacher but I’m trying to switch to the legal field and either work with families, tax law, international law, or (most likely) at a nonprofit I really love. Regardless of what I choose, I’ll still be a RPW:)

I’m in the healthcare field and every few years I have to take recertification classes for first aid/cpr. My most recent one the instructor seemed to love her job and just travelled around various local cities through her company offering lessons. No necessary higher education required and you get to make your own schedule. I also know someone who’s a dental assistant and was able to get her certification in about six months and now works in a dentist’s office (great hours!) making close to if not over $40k per year with benefits.
