I haven't actually read the book, but in the seminar he made it sound like the rich dad was his actual dad whom he gets money and opportunities from. This is why I said the one liner. If his rich dad truly only gave him advice, then my second comment still stands that his advice was that his book was an asset, and you need to have assets. Was basically more on how to get richer rather than rich.

I'll just assume the book is better than his seminar cos honestly the seminar seemed like he rocked up 10 minutes late and spurted some random BS he thought up on the way there.

Edit: If you're interested the seminar was called masters of wealth and they had some other con artists up before him that had the crowd cheering and buying their books and packages at #specialprices. By the time he came up for the finale I was sold on the fact that my ticket had bought them all a new holiday home.

You haven't read the book you're criticizing. You paid to attend a sales pitch and you call others a sucker. Do you still dispute my diagnosis of lazy and ignorant?

I trust you learned from your mistake in purchasing that seminar. You're not likely to do that again. I hope you (and others) learn from your mistake in this thread. TRP is not the place for lazy one-line quips. They do not add value. They're just noise.

Wasn't my intention to single you out. I'm just vainly pushing back against the flood of low quality comments. When you have something of substance to contribute, take the time and make the effort. In this case, you actually did have some insight to share. I shouldn't have had to drag it out of you. That story should've been your post. We would've had an entirely different discussion.

For example: It has probably been 10 years since I read Rich Dad Poor Dad. I did not have the greatest impression of the book, more fluff than substance, but the core concepts had merit. However, you are not the first person I've heard claim that the author's work since then has been a blatant cash grab. Unlike the other charlatans, at least he has the honesty to admit it.

I'd say much of it comes down to a combination of your work ethic and the demand (and likelihood of 'making it' in whichever which field you choose to pursue - it takes a brutal level of self-honesty.

Let's say you want to be an artist. Fine. Do you have the self-discipline to draw and paint and create for often times far more than just forty hours a week? Can you market yourself? Are you good at networking? Where many of these people with a desire to "live their passion" tend to stumble is that they fail to realize that they either have to develop a very strong business sense and/or be prepared to put in two, three, four times as much work as the regular office drone puts in on a weekly basis. You can make up for what you lack in skill with a solid business sense, but it's much harder to make it on skill alone when you have little to no business sense. Also, is such a person prepared to face the fire of paying the bills on time with only their passion? It's one thing to "do what you love", it's another thing "to have to do what you love with extreme urgency or you'll starve, or get evicted".

Find your passion and figure out how to get paid for it.

That seriously depends on your passion. I'm sure a guy who has a passion for finance will have an easier time finding a way to get paid for said passion than someone whose heart lies in art.
