AWALT - Asian Edition

I've seen a lot of talk around on how Asian girls are different to Western, and I've weighed in quite a few times on the issue. So I thought it might be salient to compile a few anecdotes that show AWALT, but from the East. While Asian women can be great and they tend to be much more amiable than a lot of Western women, there is much less emphasis on gender issues so often you can see rawer and more open examples. I've lived in a few countries out here, and I've got some close friends around so I'll try to give a broad range of examples from South East/South Asia.

  • Hypergamy is rampant. Branch-swinging is common and somewhat more acceptable, especially in young women. I met a 23 year-old hottie a while ago who had a boyfriend but had got bored, and she showed me her potential suitors (5 or 6 of them). This is totally common, young Asian women will line up a range of options for the next boyfriend before dumping the previous one.

  • It's not that unusual for married women either. A plate of mine has a friend who is a traditional housewife, she is hot but she is bored. She comes out with us and flirts like mad, and has been flirting via text with one of my friends. I asked my plate about her and she said that she was probably looking for someone who could support her like her husband does, and then would likely divorce him.

  • The married women cheat a lot. I dont know if it is more or less than in the West, but if you go out on the hook up scene enough you will see lots of examples. I've met quite a few personally who claim to be happily married, but give them a few drinks and they'll be up for it if you wind up in a private situation. My ex worked with a bunch of married women, who all had boyfriends. The men seem to cheat more as well, so it might be tit-for-tat but they aren't all staying at home playing the good wife.

  • The ones who marry early openly regret it. I've made some good friends out here who got married young, and they usually say openly that they wish they had stayed single longer and met more men. They say this in front of their husbands or whoever.

  • They will fuck you over fast. A lot of them are genuinely sweet and nice people on the surface, but if the ship goes down they will disregard you in a heartbeat. Especially around 2nd world Asia (China, Thailand, Vietnam) there are lots of stories of guys getting taken for a ride. Example - a friend of a friend wants to live here, so he pools all his savings with a girl to start a business. Goes away for a week, comes back and he has been locked out of his house. Because of the laws, the business was in his gfs name, and she has decided that she wants it all to herself. He didnt think it through, and has no legal recourse.

  • Dead bedrooms galore. It's no secret that a good deal of marriages wind up in a dead bedroom. It seems like once she has had her kids her work is done. You wind up with a lot of duty marriages, and the husbands become brow-beaten. The wife is always on the husband's case to work more and make more money. I've heard lots of first and second hand stories of guys who stay until very late at work, or at the bar, simply because there is nothing worth going home to.

  • Traditional gender roles. Some of you might like the sound of traditional gender roles, but Asian housewives seem like some of the most spoilt people on the planet. They will keep the house clean and keep everything in order, but their shopping habits and the amount they hang out having expensive lunches is ridiculous. They're pretty much ladies of leisure, whilst the husband has to bust his ass to fund it all.

  • Gender role weirdness. One of the most surprising things about out here (Korea, Japan, China at least as far as I know) is that for all the talk of them being submissive, in general they are in charge of the family finances. In Japan, husbands are literally given an allowance by their wife and most financial decisions are deferred to her. Ditto for furniture, kid's education, family holidays, decisions of where to live etc. Sounds submissive to you?
