I work out 4x per week, study for IT certificates and try to socialize on Fridays all while investing over 11 hours of my day to work and commute. I enjoy none of those things, because they're all for self improvement. The 4 hours of gaming I get on Saturday are all I have because Sunday is full on chores and meal prep. I'm gonna pass on this one, OP. Hope you don't mind.

I can only speak for myself but I know that my gym progression increased massively after I gave away my PS4 and downgraded to a laptop that wasn't capable of playing any video games and could only serve as a work laptop.

I had to do the same thing with alcohol. If I have any at home, I drink it. And I keep drinking it until it's all gone. No contest. So I removed it all from my home and I haven't had a drink for over a year. I did the same with vidya and 6 months later I'm in the best shape of my life, hitting the gym 5 days a week, and I'm dating new women every weekend.

Some guys can have alcohol or vidya or weed at home and still live the life I'm living now, though. Not everyone has addiction/boredom issues like I do. For me, I have no problems with pornography even though I enjoy it a lot. I only delve into it maybe once every 2-3 days. It's about knowing what your personal weaknesses are and then experimenting until you find what works best for you. I'm really glad that I don't enjoy weed at all because I've seen it really suck the ambition out of a lot of young men who will never admit that weed can be a harmful drug. Just because it doesn't have any negative physical effects doesn't make it harmless. Sure, there are some highly successful and driven people who enjoy weed...but mostly I just see it making losers satisfied with being mediocre.

Am I the only one here who smokes pot regularly and still lives a productive life?

I go a month here or there without it and only smoke about an 8th every 10 days. I’m a straight A college student Entering spring semester of senior year with a part time job who’s also working on building a business. I just smoke a bowl at lunch and/or the end of the day and relax.

I will admit it can make me a little bit socially withdrawn, but I don’t get stoned before doing something social. Usually just smoked at my house and browse reddit or go for a burn cruise.

I see it as akin to having a couple of beers on the regular. Not really a big deal as long as it’s not ruining your life.

Hi everyone I first heard of the red pill about 9 months ago. Its been a mind blowing experience. I was that kid who was afraid of other peoples opinion and was just beta as fuck, still am but at least now Im aware of it so I can catch myself in my own bullshit(sometime). But I did find out that I already did a lot of the activities that were recommended in here. I read stoic philosophy and self help books, I work out very consistently, I don’t play video games, I meditate occasionally but somehow none of this mattered because I wasn’t seeing it through the right perception, it all started a whole lot more when I stumbled upon the red pill.

What is really KILLING ME is weed guys, I feel that weed is my biggest weakness or crutch. I already stopped watching porn, and concentrated on just getting laid few times a month or whatever. But anyways I always feel like is something that I meed to change but I keep telling myself “Im just not ready to stop smoking forever” I don’t feel is affecting me in a very dramatic way. I do read a lot and one thing that always pops up is that intoxicating the mind with weed is not beneficial in any way. But it feels so good to get back to your house and smoke a joint when you are ready to curl up with a book and go to sleep.

I wanna add that I have two jobs and live by my own. I moved all the way from Puerto Rico to Colorado Springs Im 23 years old and Im trying to get into college by August. Today I was in a video conference to start Currency Trading in the forex market. I really want to get more and more disciplined and I feel like Im slowly getting there. To the point where I no longer need a crush :(

Weed affects EVERYONE differently, if you’re smoking indica or sativa, edible, etc. My whole life is music production right now and I also love video games to relax. It doesn’t mean I’m gonna sit on a fukking Saturday every weekend playing 14 hours of PS4. Now if you’re struggling smoking weed all day and doing nothing in your life, I agree cut that shit out. It sucks when I read a lot of the posts here because I think a lot of you were simply just victims of your generation. People need to unplug, go somewhere by yourself a few hours away from home. Get off the grid for a while, get back into focus and look forward to what's next. Re-evaluate who you hang out with. There's a saying, "Show me your friends and I'll show you your future." If you hang out with fucking losers you're going to become one too. Move into more enlightened social circles with people that are going places and doing big things then see how your personal outlook on life changes. Be selfish and don't let words on a screen get to you. Just like anything else, video games and pot can easily coexist with a healthy 'TRP lifestyle' as long as it's done in moderation. Smoke a joint to unwind, play a game to relax. Just don't make it your primary past time and you're fine.

I've lived the hardcore gamer life as well. The last ten years or so I had the luxury of being financially independent, thus did not feel the need to have a job. I spent most of my days playing video games from sunrise till sunset and had a blast. But around this time last year I began to realize how much of a toll it took on my social life. No job means no interaction with people. Sitting inside all day means no interaction with people. There were weeks where I did not leave the house for days on end.

So over the course of last year I began to change stuff around. I got a 9 to 5 job, started going to the gym steadily, pushed myself to go outside more often and dare to do things outside my comfort zone. Now it's a year later and the change is really noticeable. I'm much more confident, I'm doing things I would never have considered a year ago and I'm happy with my life. And I did/do all this while still owning a beast of a gaming PC that I just enjoy playing on, but much less than I used to.

Point is; if you're just going to cut fun things out of your life to replace them with things you don't find fun, all for the sake of self improvement and getting pussy, you're just going to end up miserable. There needs to be a balance between the two. People need fun in their life. Some get that from a book, some get that from going hiking, some get that from playing a video game.

Anyone can do both. If you can't do both you have no discipline and are blaming weed and video games for your own faults.

Weed is whack. I hate myself for not being able to power through the sleeplessness that comes with withdrawals. The last time I tried kicking it I got 4 - 5 hours/night for a month before I finally caved. It ends up affecting my relationships, work, and education all negatively. Then it affects my exercise because I am not sleeping enough to recover properly. So I stick to 1 - 3 hits before bed and it's worked for a while. But I really just want it gone.

I also have 5 college degrees, am fluent in advanced business Chinese, built a gym next to my bed because walking to the gym was a waste of time, do daily yoga & meditation, can cook damn near anything, have no trouble with girls, and am now in a foreign country getting ready to design and launch another business. You can smoke pot, play video games, and still get shit done.

You could monetize your gameplay instead of quitting. If you're a gamer for life you can easily monetize yourself playing the newest games, making video guides, shilling out merch.

It's good passive income and a career if you're into it.

By no means should you ever pursue professional gaming, even if you're the top .01% it will consume ALL your time and leave you empty once the hype dies.

While video games are a consumerist, aka, beta activity, making money off of it (and there's lots to be made.) pays huge dividends in the long run. If you aren't charismatic you'll never make it, but we're long past being timid boys.

People like GLO could massively grow their audience by simply playing whatever's popular and talking about red pill topics.

Edit: I could make a pretty huge topic about the subject of video game monetization. I ran a network of 300k y/t subs and about 1k twitch viewers on the regular. My old account was heavily doxxed, hacked, harassed, etc by a group of feminists, blue pillers, and "anti-bully" squads of sorts. It became a huge problem in my personal life to the point where when the swat team killed my dog I called it quits. In the process of starting it all up again but the passive income just wasn't worth dealing with a constant barrage of internet raiders. Once I get going again there will be no webcam, no leaking of personal info, etc. Also in my ending state a lot of my videos were getting demonetized from being flagged by leftists and twitch had banned me a few times, claiming I was being sexist. And yes while it was easier to start 12 years ago there's no better time to start than now. Anyone with disposable income and a few free hours 2-3 times a week can easily rise up and make around $4,000 a month passively without merch or sponsorships, just ad revenue and donations.

I quit pot, I quit alcohol but the video games man that's a hard one. I've quit all active-play games (except for the ocassional friend gathering) and now I play a single game. An idle, in which all I have to do is check on it twice a day and can "play" whilst on commute with a podcast or an audiobook on. I tried making the best of the situation by having the game in Korean, a language I'm currently learning. Getting out of gaming for me it's quite hard because my work revolves around video games. I do programming for a very popular mmorpg client so 8h of my day I'm staring at either a mmorpg or code related to said mmorpg.

I was on probation from age 17-21. I found myself very lonely during these years as I had to quit weed and stop hanging out with my high school friends who all smoked. During this time I also transferred to a 4 year college, met new friends who actually went out and socialized. I also interacted with more women than I ever thought I could. After probation I went back to smoking weed, but it was the experience I had sober that helped wake me up honestly.

Had a circle of friends once and we would meet almost every evening to play Pro Evolution Soccer and to smoke weed. Usually with a girlfriend or two or three boring themselves and getting high with us. It was a downward spiral for several years until it all fell apart.

Non social loner versions are even worse.

Playing games like Europa Universalis 4 or LoL or Morrowind for hundreds of hours per month alone while smoking actively makes you a wimp weakling with hunchback and no voice and no soul...

Quitting drugs and alcohol was the best thing i ever did for myself. I am well aware certain people can balance it and still be successful but i was not one of those people. The video games on the other hand came naturally. I made no conscious effort to quit just replaced it with my other obligations/activities such as school, work, recovery, cars and bmx. Soon i found no downtime for myself and i am leading a much better life to my standards.

Used to skip class and work a little to pay for substances but that was it. My life was very dark and now i would say im one of the hardest working individuals i know. If anyone is struggling with an addiction or pure laziness feel free to message me. I know how cyclical that shit can get.
