I feel like a thread is necessary every once in awhile to group up general interest lifting knowledge for the post-beginner lifters.

I have a few of my own questions but I'm looking for others to ask some that I haven't put the words to quite yet.

(1. BCAAs) I've been going for extended gym sessions nearing 2 hours. I see a lot of advanced lifters carrying juice concoctions in the gym. Upon research, I found they are drinking BCAAs. I ordered some to try out while in the gym (Amino 1 by Musclepharm) after reading that prolonged periods in the gym will cause you to lose muscle if you are not consuming anything. I also read an article on bodybuilding.com that referenced a study where cortisol levels went down and T levels went up in users of BCAAs during work out. Are they effective and do I have my facts straight?

(2. Pre-workout meal) I get very hungry when I work out if I hadn't a large carb meal immediately before the work out. I often stop at Subway on the way to the gym and people think I'm crazy. How bad is that? Is getting hungry 30 mins in to working out completely normal? What is your optimal pre-workout meal?

(3. Programs) As I taper off Stronglifts 5x5 I have found Ice Cream Fitness which reignited my excitement for the gym with the accessory workouts. I have added in rotator cuff exercises on shoulder day which pushes me to the 2 hour+ mark. As I'm getting comfortable with ICF, I'm looking to start up a more intensive program for the summer months as I have time on my hands. What are some good programs for me? I am looking for something that will maximize strength to set the stage for aesthetics in the coming 3 months with no barrier on time. I can squat 1.5x my bodyweight.

(4. Apps) Also check out the Strong. app in the app store for all your weightlifting needs. Phenomenal. Anyone have any other very good apps to use?

(5. Rotator Cuff) What is your rotator cuff exercise work out? I currently use Cable External Rotations, Cable Internal Rotations, Alternating Grip Lateral Raises, Shrugs and a shift in some usage of the Seated Row Machine in place for the lighter row in ICF. I am looking to incorporate Face Pulls and Back Flyes, hence my prompt for new programs.

(6. Cutting) I have never done a full on cut before but I understand the concept. What are some thoughts or resources on a structured cutting diet?
